So many mistakes on the US defense. They have the talent but they lack soccer fundamentals. Shielding, playing simple, over dribbling, holding the ball too long. That first goal given to Japan was embarrassing and it says a lot about the player lacking fundamentals. The tactical development in US soccer is weak

The U20-USWNT had won all 10 of its matches by two or more goals entering 2022 until winning a penalty shootout (7-6) from 2-2 against a Dutch team in June. They had also won their first match against Ghana 3-0. The next match was against the Netherlands, whom they had played in June and won in a hard-fought penalty shootout. The U20-USWNT's 0-3 loss to the Netherlands may have been due to the fact that they knew some of their opponent's characteristics and were caught off guard. I think the goal difference with Japan and the lack of experience in giving up the lead to the opponents were the major overloads in the game against Japan.
