Both of the lads absolutely smouldering in that thumbnail - massive props to whoever edited the twinkle into Eoin's eye, I know that's been gone since Ilya fell from grace

Holy moly that snatch from Imperio was amazing. The speed under the bar and the height of the bar is mind blowing.

Squat depth is something I struggle with. I did go through a strength phase and I used it to gain confidence since anything over 140 kg scared me. In college I passed out squatting and that's where my fear came from. After doing shallower squats, I lost a lot of my fears. I do make it a point to squat as deep as possible on my warm ups and now range of motion is better. When compared my to my classical lifts my squats are a lot more similar than before. Thank you for your videos and advice.

Thanks for contextualizing the freaks on the news show. Always ping pong between being impressed and thinking how weak I am.

Lasha who? Shouldn't Hafthor be able to snatch 250? Mark Rippetoe told me so.

About Kolbi, from his coach: he used to be a NCAA football player, been lifting for 2.5 years Other than that, this 227kg is the second American 500lbs made by a non super heavyweight after Mark Cameron in 1980, it’s not quite in the top 2 or 3 all time heaviest in the USA though

Re Hamtpon: Dylan cooper also does this with his squats where he squats a lot higher than he catches heavy cleans and snatches. Relatively high obviously because he's absolutely burying those heavy cleans and snatches

I wish you guys would have talked about some of the other events at the Rogue Invitational, like Thomas Evans other farmers into log or Thor on the Stones. Far more interesting and athletic events than the deadlift. The deadlift was the most predictable of all the events of the competition.

For the Thor deadlift he negotiated on stage to beat the Suitless WR (470+) but rogue offered him 25k instead of the 50k for the suited wr, so he turned it down lol. It's one of those things where it's fair enough, get paid, but also it worries me. I feel like you can't turn down these chances for a WR too much; as it may come back to bite you.

He had the whole competition ahead of him. Seems reasonable to not go all out when you can.

@Mr66Undertaker yeah it's also fair, but then again with how 458 looked at most rpe 8, and the other guys were going rpe10. I don't think he would have been disadvantaged going for it

Strongman compete in strongman, not the deadlift. You have to look at their deadlift performance in relation to all the other events. Almost nobody trains exclusively for the deadlift, and if they did they'd be bad at the other events.

Squatting 1000+ lbs with no spot, and no safety stops is insane.

Where did US weightlifting get NFL player material?? I have a hypothesis that the Egyptians started breaking the elbows of their lifters after noticing their good lifters had that weird angle. Big fan of a cup of yoghurt after lifting heavy. I'm waiting for Fitz to do that hybrid challenge, he already runs and squats. But really though, he would score +3200 meters in Cooper's test WHILE DEADLIFTING 180 KG. Obviously you can't extrapolate that pace for double the laps, but that's your comparison if you have ever ran a Cooper's test.

30:43 I’ve heard that deadlift suits CAN add lbs/kg to a lift BUT it depends on the lifter. Some people get more out of a suit than others. It just doesn’t automatically add 30kg. However I feel a good amount of Strongman athletes know how to use the suit and can get a good amount out of a suit.

Anybody else catch the flag in the background of the Tony Ferguson clip? Pretty sure its the Donetsk Peoples Republic, one of the pro-russian Ukrainian breakaways. Seems strange to see in an American gym.
