till 2008 every skilled person can get job... students were less than h1b visas... after 2008 the number of students become more so h1b lottery system started... the few thousands people who didn't get that year (2009) will be picked next year (2010)... but now there are lakhs of excess students... so most people wont get jobs. in future as India develops more middle class people will be able to afford USA... so several lakhs of students will compete for that 85000 visas.... most people will come back to India with huge debt... according to me it wont stop, will get worst... most people will be competing for USA like government jobs in India.

Now is not like it was 25 to 30 years ago. Now the jobs are fewer and talent supply is more. Everything has become really really expensive. Min amount required for rent (sharing), food, car and health insurance are at least $2,000/- per person. Even for simple doctor appointments, the wait time is long. If you are dependent on a work visa, think really well.

Having interacted with students / newly employed youth in various states, i sincerely advise people with weak financial back ground, not to take the risk/dream about going to US for higher studies/ dream about colourful life.
