one of the things that i love about this sport is because it's unique. it uses every part of your body unlike other sports and it can also keep your body fit and have better lungs.

A lot of people making smart comments about the glide finish. You've completely missed the point. They're saying the best option is to spot the finish perfectly so there is no glide and your arms are at full extension. Which is how he beat Cavic. BUT if you don't spot it perfectly you're better to have a small glide than to take an extra stroke and finish with your nose on the wall.
@markgrello38059 жыл бұрын
gsbelbin Agreed. And they aren't really saying to GLIDE....Just that, if you are too close to the wall to take another full stroke, it is better to keep your head down and kick as hard as you can than to take a short stroke, which is NEVER a good idea.

Good thing he didn't glide to the finish against Cavic in 2008. That's what's amazing about Phelps...he can adapt during a race to win.

It's not about how to make the right mouvement but how to build the body and musules for and wich exercices and training to mantain this body and by the way how to maintain the cohesion beetween different part of this body. This trust me things neither Phelps and his coach can never reveal. of course with help of professional You could found it but remeber always no one will know you body better than youself.

100%, and still pro athletes replicate his start, which I can't understand when there are dives by Dressel and Fratus...

Also, just remebered that Phelps and Bowman arguably INVENTED the track / sit down start. So this was pioneering footage of them revolutionizing the competitive swim start. That's why it may not be that clean at that time.
