@@jamesricker3997 If the penalty taker keeps his/her nerves (and obviously has enough skills to get the ball where he/she wants it, but that's a given at this level) any goalkeeper won't stand a chance at that distance. A lot of players choose a corner beforehand, but Rapinoe was particularly strong under the pressure to wait until van Veenendaal had committed to a corner before she placed her shot. Once you are on the wrong foot it's physically impossible to get to the other corner.

No they didn'd do great imo. The Netherlands were very lucky to defeat Sweden, and they were mediocre during 90 minutes today, except for their goalie. I don’t think it was a penalty. The Dutch defender was going to kick the ball when Alex Morgan ran into her, it was not intentional. Intention is important, she didn’t intent to kick alex, she went for ball and Alex got in the way.

It was a wrong decision of van der Gragt but that happens in such a tense game and I agree it didn't look intentional. Therefore I think a yellow card was a little harsh.

Yes contact was very high but Dutch player was trying to make the play, watching the ball. Morgan runs into her, and I don’t see what Morgan’s intention was on making a play. Should of been a no call. These calls have been dictating the flow of the game.
