Serbia stayed in the game for quite a while and played toe to toe with the US before seeming to finally tire out in the 4th quarter. This was like a boxing match that was a 10th round knockout after being even on the scorecards. The huge gap between the US and the rest of the world in the women's game is starting to narrow a bit.

zyxwut321 No it is not. The US was just sluggish this game. If they played this same Serbian teams 9 more times, they would blow them out each and every time. Even the USA is entitled to a bad day. Serbia had absolutely NO chance of winning this game. Even France beat the US 76-72 in an exhibition game a few weeks earlier. The US barely loses exhibitions much less regular games. The gap is still enormous talent wise. It has more to do with the US adopting to European/FIBA style basketball, instead of playing their traditional high pressure defense and transition-style (American) basketball. Serbia just happened to play way over their heads in this game.

i love supporting the U.S.A but i’m glad that Serbia was challenging team and had the lead sometimes and made multiple stops which lead to points because some of the U.S.A games bore me because there’s no tension and the scores are not tight e.g with Spain at the finals.This was a great game and you could see how close it was.Big Ups to the Serbian program and they should keep doing what they do!!

Actually the salaries are not only dependent on their skill. The WNBA does not make close to the amount the NBA does. The money percentage for each team is not high, so the income can only be, at highest around 75,000 dollars. Now keep in mind, for girls 22-28, that income can be amazing. Most women don't get that amount till they are about 28, so to start earning young is great!
