We just turn the auto temp setting in ours and it turns the green light off. Also its best to put the fans on a stable 12V power supply like a Buck boost etc, as the circuit board don’t like voltage over 13.1V, which is a pain to be honest as most Battries are over 14.5V.

I had the same problems with the maxxair! The beeping can be stopped by cutting power to the fan (from the fuse block or a hard wired switch). But then you can always trigger it again if you’re not careful. I called and got the replacement part offered by the company, and it didn’t fix the problem. I’ve found with mine that the beeping/freeze state is triggered by trying to do too many buttons at once, ie changing fan direction and power level simultaneously. Just do one at a time and it’ll work! Also the green light should indicate when you’re using the auto temp feature (great if you leave the van parked for a few days and don’t want it to overheat in the day, but also don’t want to leave the fan constantly running).

I am 83. I will soon leave MI for FL in my 40 ft Class A. I carry 100 gal fresh water. I have 135,000 miles on my coach. My 3 main reasons for not downsizing (1) being able to carry that water (2) our "regular" toilet (3) our clothes washer. We tow a 4x4 Silverado. Why go stealth. We dry camp 1/3 to 2/3 of the time depending on the purpose of our trip. I KNOW buying a used Class A can be cheaper than your van camper. My generator takes care my power needs. We have been in 49 states, much of Mexico and Canada. King sized bed.

Security system: I've always been intrigued with the concept of electro-magnetic locks run from house batteries to supplement mfg's bolt/latch. Nothing will break the magnetic bond MaxxFan You probably figured it out by now, when you get the green light, you're pressing the thermostat hold at 78 degree button, not the on-off button. Yup, green light is too bright. I have two Maxx's in my van. The one over the fixed bed is not remote so, have to climb on bed to open/close and turn on/off. The one in the front is remote, and is very easy to reach. The remote has to be pointed directly at the sensor for it to work, cannot use from bed. Had a high DC ripple event (whatever that is) that caused rear fan to stop working and beep. I turned everything off, pulled blade fuse, put it back in, no issues since. The only electrics being used at time were dometic chest fridge, front Maxx fan, and rear Maxx fan These fans have know problem in voltage regulator - very sensitive. Front fan lift motor just recently failed (2-years old). I'll replace with non-remote version.

Welcome home! Glad you were able to get some good family/friend time in MN :) Enjoy CO in the fall! I do love that area and am super jealous that you could go to a concert at Red Rocks. I was able to visit there, but there weren't any events when I went. CO is fantastic, though. That's one of the states in the US were I visited and was like, "Yep. I could live here too". I have a manual Maxxair fan that I have to open by hand that works really well, so it's a bummer yours broke so quickly... But yeah, I will never understand why companies who produce products for camping use these bright green and blue lights that light up the whole area. Thanks for the great explanation re the recirculating shower - I just thought it would be about moisture concerns, etc, and am now much more convinced that it's not really the be all/ end all that I had envisioned. Probably wouldn't do that either, now. Also I've heard about that issue with the Max fans - Chrome from VanCity Vanlife has had that exact issue, apparently not uncommon. Happy travels!

New fully electric ducato was announced recently. I find it the best for camping. Big power bank for cooking, charging bikes, aircon etc. Charging from charging stations would be easy overnight or just have the opportunity to cook or relax in the bed. 2kW solar would charge the battery significantly throughout a week in the wilderness. I’m ready for one, it will definitely be our next build.

Wait a minute, why would you be wasting significant energy reheating the recirculated water? The water should already be quite warm from its first pass. While I agree with you that this is not an ideal system as the water will be dirty from the shower you are actively having and the filters will get clogged and need replacing also causing loss of pressure but the system itself isn't more inefficient than your system of dumping water in to the grey tank not in terms of water usage or power if one uses the same volume of water for each. It is a misrepresentation it seems to be calling these things inefficient when the inefficiency comes from how it is used differently and not the actual system. Don't you agree? A good solution I think would be to have a system where the filters are easy serviceable and can be cleaned using little water in say your sink or whatever going to the grey tank. Clean shower water could be easily recirculated. In a perfect world you could have a recirculated mode for just showering and then turn it off switch to a grey tank mode for rinsing off soap. Some people really enjoy longer showers and this could be a nice luxury to have.
@ladiandmargaret3 жыл бұрын
The purpose of recirculating shower is to shower longer. If you start with hot water and run it through the whole loop multiple times, it exchanges heat with all the pipes, pump, filters and every surface area the water touches. If you have 2l in the system, it would be significantly colder the second pass. If you have 8 liters, it would stay hot a bit longer. If this system is supposed to be done properly, it needs run through heater as well. Each for their own, I just explained why we are not interested in the system.
@Cyril29a3 жыл бұрын
@@ladiandmargaret I agree with what you are saying here but it isn't what you said in the video. What you said in the video was that it was more wasteful ignoring the "longer shower" portion which makes no sense. I understood what you meant in the video which is why I commented, as what you meant and what you said were not congruent. Maybe add a subtitle explaining that all recycling showers are more efficient on a per L basis but promote wasteful behaviour. What you have now is misleading at best.
@TannyOHaley3 жыл бұрын
@@ladiandmargaret Because I've had Parkinson's for over 25 years that longer shower is therapeutic. It loosens up my muscles and allows me to move more freely. I have a tremor, drag my feet when I walk, but the main symptoms are unseen which are pain and stiffness. I tried filling up two 1 L bottles and taking a navy shower. I couldn't get wet enough to apply soap to my body. Once I did get soap on my body the second liter was not enough to rinse my body off. This may be because Parkinson’s slows me down and I take a lot longer to put soap on my body and to rinse it off than you two. I believe the recirculating showers that are currently being installed in vans and RVs where the recirculated water is stored and many filters is the wrong way to go. They are overly complicated and because of plumbing and number of filters require too much water. I believe that a better approach is to keep the recirculating unit compact with every shower starting off with fresh water. The other problem are the products used to take a shower. If they contain petroleum instead of being neutralizing/biodegradable then they will clog up the filters. If you use a neutralizing/Biodegradable product the addition of a teaspoon Epson salt will get rid of the soap suds. It’s science. This means that you don't have to use as many filters. To me that makes the heated hour shower by the orphaned KZbin channel Gone Boondocking the best candidate. I describe why and include a partial parts list at the following link. I’m not charging anything or selling anything at this link, it is just informational. I believe this can help people more enjoy their van life or RV experience whether or not they have disabilities. I guess I’m trying to be altruistic. I love your videos and how are you interact with each other. I even subscribed a long time ago. github.com/tannyo/Hour-Shower#heated-hour-shower
