Im for 45 years old and been watching baseball since i was 7. I have to say Shohei ohtani is definitely one of the best player in the leagues that I have whiteness and that's one thing that we all can unanimously agree on. I think it's special to see someone like that come along. Definitely a legend in the making so it's something to really appreciate while he's still here cuz it's something we haven't seen at all like him and probably be another 100 years until we see something like that again. He definitely will be talked about through every next generations.

What the world learned from this game and one of the amazing sports tournament ever in World Baseball Classic 2023, is that Japan has such a strong team that is built on discipline, good fundamentals on both hitting and pitching. Baseball (and basketball too) is a globally famous sport that originated in the USA, so the allure of the league and the rich history draws the athletes from various parts of the world, but the other leagues outside of US are catching up, just as competitive and talented like the players in MLB. Japan beating the line-up of MVPs and multi-MLB All Stars, the days of thinking that Japanese Professional Baseball is like a triple-A level are over. Japanese Professional Baseball is like the European League equivalent of NBA.

This WBC victory was a historic day in which the Japanese "YAKYU" won over the American-style “Baseball”. Japan's victory was not due to the strength of the teams or members who participated in the WBC. It was a day when the victory of Japanese "YAKYU," which was derived uniquely from American-style baseball and took more than 100 years to achieve. The fact is that on this same planet, there is another baseball that exists in a different spirit than the US style. Of course, the roots of baseball are USA, but baseball that was exported to other countries and took root there developed in a different way. This would be a fact. 2023 WBC was the day that ”Japanese YAKYU” defeated the home of ”American-style baseball”. Another way to describe this is to say that it was a battle between Japanese-style "ZEN-INｰYAKYU” baseball, which emphasizes "Teamwork among all players", and American-style baseball, which emphasizes "Individual power players", and it was a day when ZEN-INｰYAKYU (Teamwork-oriented organizational baseball) won. The secret and source of the strength of Japanese baseball lies in the difference in baseball “education”！. The greatest secret of Japanese baseball education is the system in which all players of students aim to participate in the "Koshien Tournament" during their high school years. The "Koshien Tournament" is a high school baseball tournament held twice a year, in spring and summer, for high school students from all 47 prefectures of Japan to determine the best high school baseball club in Japan, with the ultimate goal of everyone participating in a baseball club in high school to compete for three years while in high school. And unlike other high school sports, this national tournament has an unusually high level of interest and involves the entire nation. The schools that have won their regional tournaments gather at the Koshien Stadium(Hanshin Hyogo) for the final tournament as representatives of their respective regions. All games are broadcast nationwide on TV, and it is fair to say that the amount of attention the tournament attracts is more than that of professional baseball. The high level of interest in and recognition of the tournament means that interest and money are spent to support the regional representatives, and of course, it is also a place for professional baseball scouts to discover candidates for the next generation of star players. This tournament is also the place where an unknown boy can become a big star overnight. The emotional dramas of the children's lives, the tragedies and joys of competition due to the tournament style games, arouse the sympathy and interest of the entire nation. And it is this baseball education in high schools across the country for the "Koshien Tournament" that has become the basic baseball training course for Japanese professional baseball players in their teenage years. Every student who joins a high school baseball team learns basic baseball training and tactics every day in the time after high school classes with the goal of participating in this Koshien Tournament. They then go through unusually grueling training, which is hard to believe by American standards, such as training their mental, technical, and physical abilities to compete at a young age in their teens in order to participate in this Koshien Tournament. The selected athletes who win the tournament and participate in the Koshien Tournament are able to experience the rigors of a sudden death match in a tournament, how to keep their composure in a crowd of over 50,000 spectators, and how to concentrate on their game in a big match as part of their training to strengthen their mental strength as teenagers. Although baseball is not an Olympic sport in general, the Koshien Tournament system of Japanese baseball provides teenage athletes with the same opportunity to experience the big game as they would in the Olympics. This training opportunity throughout the high school years contributes to the uniqueness of Japanese baseball, training and honing each player's basic skills, mental strength, and ability to respond within the organization in teamwork, and raising the fundamental level of the game. The members of the Japanese team that participated in the WBC, and all of their managers and coaches, all of them have experienced this high school baseball education for the Koshien Tournament when they were in high school. Almost without exception, all of them. They spend their high school years learning the basic skills of baseball every day with the goal of participating in this tournament. → (hitting, pitching, defense, handling teamwork, keeping calm on the big stage, self control, emotional control skills, how to think strategically to win the game, how to stand up and behave, manners, etc.). This educational system in high schools is unique to Japan and completely different from high school baseball in the United States. This is the backbone that gave birth to Otani and Ichiro, and is the cause and secret of the high level of baseball skills of players from Japan.This is also the reason why ”YAKYU” is different from "American-style baseball”. Americans don’t realize the importance of the unique "Koshien" system of Japanese baseball. You have yet to realize the essential meaning of why Japanese baseball players are different from other players. So when you see a player like Otani, you only think of him as crazy, inhuman, or special. But in the Japanese baseball education system, Otani's words and actions are not an abnomaly; they are the normal behavior of an honor student. And with physical qualities, a second or third Otani could be produced in the Japanese "Koshien" system. This WBC was the day that ”Japanese YAKYU” defeated the home of ”American-style baseball”.

I'm Japanese so I'm happy that Japan won. But I am a fan of both Ohtani and Trout, so I was both happy and sad when either of them won. I will never forget the fact that I was able to witness the confrontation between the two, which I had dreamed of long before the WBC was held. I will forever be grateful to all the members and the gods of baseball who made this miraculous showdown possible.

I gotta say it's beyond description... I bet nobody expected the ending to be that dramatic. Historical tournament for sure.
