@AlexRN2 жыл бұрын
Mexico is the most consistent team in the last 28 years of World Cups. Consistently mediocre but consistent nonetheless. What I mean by that is since 94 they’ve been on a 7 straight World Cup qualifications streak and 6 straight Rounds of 16 (but nothing past that stage). The only reason they’re not 7 for 7 is because the 2022 Qatar WC hast been played yet. So yes, USMNT did get to quarterfinals in 2002, but failed to get out of the group stage in 98 and 2006 (and didn’t even qualify for 2018). Mexico went to Round of 16 in all of those Cups. It’s weird.

I really thought we were going to make the semifinals in 2010. Just seemed like destiny, especially the way we scored in extra time against Algeria just to make the final 16. Ghana was a good draw and we had such a great chance to win that game, and then Uruguay would have been the quarterfinal opponent, a side that was very beatable, as evidenced by the fact that Ghana should have beaten them and blew the penalty after the Suarez red card. We couldn't have asked for a better draw, really. Just couldn't get it done.
