I'm fromUK, I watched this in Thailand on holiday. I love US soccer, Go USA!!!!! I really wish US MNT all the best for any games they play. USA doing well at football is good for football worldwide as there is money in USA to invest in worldwide football. Great fighting spirit, something the England team need! Howard was great in 2014. 2010? Not so much. Beat from distance. Beat on near post. Look at Slovenia and where USA goals came from and where SLV goals came from. SLV scoring from outside the box while USA has to get to the six yard line. Look at first goal by Ghana. It happens. Still always he gave his all. I love the man.

In 2010 he did for the match against England, where he was Man of the Match at that game. However in other games he was average; in the game against Ghana he made only one impressive save while his adversary, Richard Kingson, made a lot more impressive saves and kept Ghana in the match.

In retrospect, as infuriated as I was when the ref reversed the Slovenia goal, I think that the whole sense of "we need to win this game against Algeria" made Donovan's goal a million times better. Yeah but the comeback in the Slovenia game was so epic. It was a hard pill to swallow that call in the box. When it was revealed via replay the Slovenia defenders were the ones fouling it was twice as infuriating. US never should have been put in that position.

I live on an American Army base in Germany. We went out for some drinks one night at a bar off post and it was one of the nights Germany was playing. The bar was packed around the big screen and probably 70% of the patrons were American. OMG when Germany won EVERYBODY went crazy celebrating. We were screaming in English and German. That is something I will never forget; ever. Two peoples coming together to celebrate a sports victory. I never got soccer until that moment. Now I'm hooked. :)

This is the best World Cup Video on youtube. Great compilation, easy for people to forget the tough road to the Algeria game. Getting hosed in the Slovenia game and coming back from the brink. Algeria game was the crowning achievement but this video tells the whole story. Only thing its missing is Andrés Cantor's "GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL (repeat). 2010 was the turning point, we' won't be the underdogs anymore in 2014! Bring it on!

This is true. After the disallowed goals I went back and found out that something like 5 of the last 11 US goals had been disallowed mysteriously. It's a pretty profound problem for them in World Cups and, for whatever reason, gets fairly little notice from the general sport's fanbases.

I would like to thank the ref in the Slovenia game for disallowing a good Maurice Edu goal (and I guess the same goes to the Algeria ref for Dempsey's goal) so that we could have something as incredible and inspirational as the Landon Donovan goal against Algeria. Although we didn't go as far as some teams and probably should have gone farther, I wouldn't trade our World Cup performance for any team other than maybe Spain!

Now that the US has a proper league up and running we're seeing the fruits of nurturing home grown talent that the US used to not have, we're also seeing US players in bigger Euro leagues for the first time, from little acorns grow .... ! Before young American talent really had no where to go they do now & as each year goes by your domestic league will improve, there'll be dips along the way but there'll be a steady improvement. We can see that happening now over the last 15 odd years.
