My younger brother went in the Air Guard for 4 years- stayed 14 as a Master Sargeant. He saw work in Grenada, Panama, Bosnia, and Desert Storm. At one point he had THREE girlfriends in Germany, New York, and Australia... Military is a good option for our youth. He now teaches pilots for American Airlines in Dallas. I am very proud of him.

Six FIGURES!! Wow! I must have been ripped off. I was a Loadmaster for 20 yrs and never made that much! Too Funny. Good video. Airdrop is one of the best parts of the job. Travel was one of my other favorite parts of the job.
@Tampaslice15 жыл бұрын
Loadmaster is the best enlisted job in the Air Force. They make nowhere near 6 figures. This guy is an E5, makes about $1100 every 2 weeks. I was a Loadmaster at Pope AFB for 4 years. When I got out the C-17 was still on the planning table. Wasn't in service yet. The pilot flying the plane doesn't make anywhere near 6 figures. The military is paid poorly compared to same job in civilian world. UPS, Fed Ex, etc.....

A bit late but my recruiter told me the tech school is at Lackland and is about 60-90 days and varies. But then you will have to also go to many different schools like SERE school and stuff.

I really wish my poor vision didn't prohibit me from becoming a pilot. I guess civilian flying for me but I still want to join the af reserves as either a loadmaster, flight engineer, airplane mechanic, or boom operator. Really wish I could fly tho but the other jobs seem fun too.

pic loadmaster unless you want to be a cop after you get out. i was considering SF before also but upon further research it is not what i expected. can go expeditionary or be a dog handler untill you get to like an e5 or something and even with advanced rank on entry you probably wont get there your first 4 years and will be stuck guarding gates, antennas and planes for 12 hours. Not as much action as you would think... only battle you will have is with fighting your sleep on post lol. good luck

How long is tech school for load master? Please let me know!
@richardmumma91413 жыл бұрын
A little late but the pipe line with all schools is almost one year for a c-130 load master. I cant speak for C-5s or 17s because not all t tail loadies are airdrop qualified in tech school.

i dont get what youre trying to say. but you do need a good asvab score and idk if you'll be "aloud" to "preform" this job because you might not meet requirements.
@Proberts16013 жыл бұрын
Ok so i took the asvab and scored an 83, which pretty much qualifies me for any job, My dad is an army recruiter, and my mother is a Colonel in an Army Medical Battalion. I went to college for awhile, but I cant figure out what i want to do for a living. I'm planning on joining the air force, because i hear there's more girls, and i like planes. Anyway, this job looks cool, and I'm overqualified for it...is this a good call? (knowledgeable people please respond)

I was an instructor loadmaster on C-141’s in the ‘60’s. I liked it a lot. I’m deaf from engine noise now - defend your hearing. Good gig for a single person. You do make extra $ - flight pay, maybe combat pay, you get paid separate rations, and you draw per diem when you’re away from your home station - I was an E-2 making as much as a grounded Captain. The job wasn’t too strenuous, but your body clock gets whipped. I was going west coast to Southeast Asia 3 to 4 times a month. MAC - AMC now I think was a better gig than TAC. Those guys never got to go anywhere.
@Proberts1602 жыл бұрын
@@harleyb.birdwhisperer I appreciate the reply! I forgot I had left this comment, honestly. Kind of funny to look back at plans I was making a decade ago. I didn’t end up joining the Air Force. I worked some odd jobs for a bit and then found a career in tech. Part of me wishes I would have joined though, I’m sure it would have been an invaluable experience. Thank you for your service!
