Probably the best beam she's ever done. Scary good.

SweetnSourSoren Agreed! Once I read your comment, I knew she was gonna stick the landing :) Yeah, this is slightly better than what I previously thought was her best beam routine (Beijing EF).

That was simply PERFECTION. Does anyone have any idea what a 9.8 in execution ON BEAM means these days? That score was huge, and the best part is that she totally deserved them.

the only deductions I've found are the crossed legs on the dismount, and the full turn was a little wonky
@mht49084 жыл бұрын
I got 0.1 for the slight arm adjustment after the L-turn, 0.1 for leg separation during the sheep jump, 0.1 for slight arm adjustment after the Liukin, and 0.1 for crossed feet during dismount, so I would've given a 9.6, but maybe the code of points back then didn't consider some of these deductions. Nonetheless, I personally think this was the best routine of her career

This was AMAZING. But still had too little deductions. I have to say her L turn, sheep jump, and switch ring had form errors along with crossed ankled on the dismount and landing with her feet slightly apart. That said, this was probably one of the most flawless beam routines ever. Not deserving of a 9.8 E score, and more of a 9.4-5 at a domestic meet, it was still really good.
@robogymnast428 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry if I come off rude, that's not my point, I'm just curious. But exactly what "form errors" are there in her turn or sheep jump? Like really I see nothing. I wouldn't necessarily say she had form errors in her switch ring, but I could definitely see saying her head wasn't laid back enough... And considering her heels were together when she landed, just not her toes, I doubt the judges noticed or would have cared.
@kais42688 жыл бұрын
for the sheep jump, she should receive 0.1 deduction because her feet aren't as close to her head as they should be. she also swings her head up instead of back. and she scrunches her feet. the last two aren't technically form deductions but her technique is unpleasing. it is a 0.1 form deduction for the lack of arch. honestly, I wouldn't argue if it was downgraded here. nothing wrong with the L turn but she should be getting a 0.1 deduction on her side somi for the flexed feet. i really like nastia on beam (minus her damn busted wrists). she has a nice fluidity and ease. but the 9.8 e score was still too high. I mean, it makes sense given this was in the us and it was still an impressive routine with no wobbles and a stuck dismount.

Only 0,2 in deductions? I believe her full turn, the wolf jump 1/1, Crossed legs and leg separation after landing were quite deductible. Were these deductions not present in the old COP?
@nmixx.changeupletsgo3 жыл бұрын
i mean... the COP was super lenient back then. shawn’s beam would score like 9 in E back then, but nowadays wouldn’t even reach an 8. i think in this COP there would be at least 1 point in deductions for this routine tough, and that’s still considered super good
@AlterEgoFan13 жыл бұрын
Ok. Not trying to be an expert. I absolutely love gymnastics because... it's just cool. but that flippy twist thing she did at 1:00 ... WHOA!!!! Almost didn't see it. FANTASTIC! And her moves are so fluid. (if that's the right term) just... awesome.
@You.Tube.Sucks.6 жыл бұрын
I'm not even gonna rewind because I'm sure that you are referring to a skill called the "Onodi". Yeah, the half-twist is so fluid that it looks almost impossible for her to begin backward yet finish facing forward. IMHO, no other gymnast (including Henrietta Onodi herself!) has ever performed the Onodi as well as Nastia executed the skill -- on a regular basis, no less. Amazing 😍

Poor head release on the switch ring leap (would downgrade to D), slightly under horizontal on the L-turn, and a slow connection on the Onodi + wolf 1/1, but otherwise a very solid routine.

Tokyo judges be like - 8.300
@bernardmvella13 жыл бұрын
After watching again definitely convinced the other tenth was for the wolf 1/1, the second half of the jump is nowhere near in proper position, but if it wasn't that I'm guessing her L-turn was considered to have a balance check or not held at a 90 degree angle enough. Foot definitely comes above the head in the switch ring, but she may not have pulled the head back enough which is the other possibility. All of those deductions would have been a .05 previously. Absolutely stunning though.

Well yea the scoring system changed a bit after the 2008 olympics, and it is now also. Maroney's 9.733 is the highest execution score for Women's gymnastics at the Olympics (under the new system) so it's the highest one from the beijing and london olympics. Idk what the highest one is at a nonolympic event, but I guess Nastia's would be up there, even though the Pacific Rim scores are a tiny bit inflated
