Riding a Motorcycle in a Kilt?

I can’t say I’ve never done it, but I CAN say it’s an extremely silly and dangerous thing to do. I have a pair of Tour Master riding pants with full length zippers on the legs that allow me to wear a light weight kilt like a casual kilt under the riding gear. I use trousers a size or two larger than I would normally wear in order to allow for the bulk of the kilt. Even with that putting riding gear over a kilt is a skill that takes practice, especially if you want to arrive without your kilt looking like a mess.

I ride in a kilt often. I don't tuck at all I just let it all go free.

Back in my motorcycle riding days … A messenger bag in between the legs kept the middle part of the kilt in check … This was only with poly material or similar … I wouldn’t dare with an expensive wool kilt … Especially given the possibility of sudden rain

I had a bee go in my helmet while riding once. I can’t imagine one going up my kilt while riding. 😳🍒📌🐝

I’ve done it! Only short distances less than a mile and never over 40mph.

Well regardless of the slide protection aspect I'm definitely anti wearing shorts on a bike because it's way too easy to burn your leg on the engine with a bare leg, so I'd consider a pant that is too thin to offer any slide protection superior to a short because it will keep you from burning yourself if you touch the engine.

For short rides, I haven't had a problem, but I do see the argument. I won't go on the highway.

I ride in a kilt all the time in Scotland. It is fine on a non cruiser style bike as the kilt is not long enough to get caught in the running gear. You can watch me do it on youtube by searching for the kilted biker. I will not live forever, so why not do things because it is dangerous. I did around 1000 miles in 5 days.

If i could find a way to wear jeans/Leather/armour pants with a kilt and not look stupid i'd try it, but ya you should always dress for the slide

Ive been down countless times. Fortunately its never been while kilted. Here in texas we tend to go ultra squid fer the summer and gear up excessively fer the winter. Me beeing a kilted squid gonna get me chewed up at the least and dead at worst. Either way i had fun doin it. Often i dont tuck the kilt and let everything fly, till i see a cop then i look like an ape trying to control bike while trucking kilt.😂

Have put a bunch of miles riding a HD in a kilt. Of course it was on FLH tc. Tuck and ride. Pull in at tavern. There is no buying beer or go home alone. Asking two that do not ride is stupid.

Dress for the slide, not the ride! That said I have worn a kilt for loading the bike. I've also worn a kilt under my mesh riding pants.. Get to the venue, pants come off, and Bob's your uncle.
