I always wear my kilts and my plaids with the vertical lines visible. It always looks better than horizontal lines.

+USAKiltsOfficial *Thanks for the debunk on plaiting to the landing, which practice yields a rather disconcerting effect.* For an eight-shade rainbow-accent sett with burnt umber and lavender for the alternate landings, I'd probably pleat to the chartreuse line in the accenting.

I'm ordering a new kilt soon. I'm gonna order it "pleated to the nothing" just to spite Rocky, 😆

No problem! We'll happily make it. Just know there are no refunds on customer items. HAHAHA

Funnily enough, pleating to the “nothing” as you’ve called it was what I first heard of as being “pleated to the stripe” because it results in dominant horizontal stripes. IIRC, this was explained as a “regimental” pleating, i.e. it allowed for easily identifying tartans at a distance. I have no idea what the truth to that was, but it sounded good at the time.

Whoa whoa whoa, that’s my band at 3:20. Our kilts aren’t pleated to the nothing. They’re pleated to the yellow stripe. In the ancient colours, it might not be that strong and it might be washed out in the Vegas sun there. But I assure you we don’t have lawn chair kilts.

Jim - for the record, we know that it's pleated to the yellow stripe (it wasn't our intent to imply otherwise). It was our editor's joke (hence the x file music) that no pipe bands do it that way. They know better. HAHAHA

My Black Watch kilt from Pakistan is pleated to the stripe It's was about the cheapest I could find and I have to admit that I'm impressed with the quality for the price. $100 for a kilt, kiltpin sporran, belt. For a starter to get a taste if it is something I'd want to spend more on in the future. A couple of months later I've bought a Utilitykilt a couple of Kiltpins, a sporran, Hose & flashes, and have a Kilts and Culture PV kilt on order, I guess that $100 for a starter kilt from Pakistan wasn't a bad investment. In a couple of months I'll order one in my Clan tartan when I decide on who I want to make it

I bought a kilt from you guys recently and it was the old lawn chair look. I didn’t say anything about it because this is my first kilt and didn’t know what it should look like. What should I do?

With all this being said, if a customer wanted their kilt pleated to nothing, would you do it?
@USAKiltsOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we would.

I've known this as pleating to the bar, and on a busy tartan, it looks awful, but on a simple one, it looks great. On my Gunn kilt, it looks fantastic, but on say an Anderson it will look god awful

How would a Ramsay red tartan look pleated to the stripe? I’m considering this option, but wonder if it would have this so-called lawn chair effect.
@animalover212182 жыл бұрын
I am by no means anything resembling an expert, but I don't feel like there'd be an issue as it could be pleated to the white stripes.
@barbaricyawper142 жыл бұрын
@@animalover21218 Yes, I know but the only stripe pleated version I’ve seen has a dominant black horizontal stripe too. I wonder how many different ways it could be done.

I guess I think it looks fine. I guess I have no strong feeling one way or the other.
