Was lucky i was able to do one med-cruise on the USS Coral Sea 1987/1988 with VFA-131 Wildcats AO , One of the coolest things i have done in my life work the flight deck their is no equal !

@@Klassen_brUno A "sea duty" tour or assignment is usually 3 or 4 years. The sailor attached to a squadron of aircraft only goes onto the carrier when the air wing is requested, which usually constitutes 2-4 "workups" of about 3 weeks each, leading up to a "cruise" or deployment that last 6 months. Then you repeat the cycle about a year after returning. As an example, I did 2 cruises/tours on the USS Forrestal (CV-59), one in 1989/1990, and the other was fully contained in 1991 (all the workups and the cruise). However, if you are assigned to the carrier itself, it's possibly to head out to sea for a few days at a time numerous times, most likely to test the ship capabilities before the air wing comes aboard.

I like how you included the sounds of the flight operations, but absolutely nothing can prepare you for the raw power and extreme shrieking of the aircraft as they are taking off and landing. There's a reason flight deck personnel wear earplugs AND the big round ears (carefully tucked inside that flight deck helmet). One aircraft in a catapult, at full military power, just before being launched, is enough to rattle the entire ship.

Rather cool watching this but when I was aboard the USS Independence it didn't seem so cool. I am a senior citizen now but if I am needed I will go back in to serve our country. The USA is the greatest. Parents please teach your children to say pledge allegiance to the American flag.

「Growler Jams」という現役米海軍パイロットによる解説チャンネルでデッキクルーに取材をした動画があります。 Shooter(黄色い人)が最後にしている指差しを簡単に書くと、パイロットに軽い敬礼をした後 ①船首の青信号、②艦側面にいるカタパルトオフィサー(緑)のサイン、③Shooterの直ぐ側に座っているカタパルトオフィサー(緑)のチェック、④機体後方側面の動作確認員(緑、白)のサイン、⑤艦後方から着艦機は来ていないか、などを指差し確認しているようです。
