It's what really impresses me about this operation is that they have sense of fusion F-35 and F-18 have connectivity and they able to select targets and coordinate attacks against targets while they're all together these are different aircraft diffusion of the integrated ground-attack command-and-control, are their defense, has been coordinated from different aircraft this is fantastic

The flight deck is one of the most dangerous, deadly, and well-orchestrated ballet of controlled chaos in the Nav. These Sailors were taking their sweet, leisurely time practicing launching aircraft - IRL and during war or war-game ops the pace is sped up to 100. I was a Marine on the USS Wasp amphib assault ship and we'd launch Harriers 5 at a time back to back. Five AV8-B's would line up on the flight deck at the same time, one after the other - the lead Harrier's thrust would be used by the Harrier behind it as extra headwind - so on and so forth. One Harrier would reach the one-third to half-way point of the flight deck markings and then the next would start to taxi at full thrust. We'd put 5 birds in the air within 30 - 45 seconds. Practice makes perfect. Controlled chaos....

@@beevezeepe6615 Training excercises aren't really "IRL" though. There are certain speed/safety practices that are still stressed, even when training for "live" war scenarios. In a "live" war footing, things are much more urgent and "alive"....
@Ezees23
@Ezees23 Жыл бұрын
@@doloresstrong2198 The different "color-coded" jackets are used to quickly identify who works in which flightline departments. Red is for "ordnance/armaments and fire/rescue"; Purple is for "fueling"; Green is for "flightline/aircraft maintenance"; Yellow is for "aircraft handlers"; Blue is for "elevator operators and maintenance deck spotters"; Brown is for "plane captains/commanders"; and White is for "QC/safety/medical". The "Batons" are for pilot/plane captain non-verbal commands to brake, park, taxi, engine spin-up/spin-down, turn or fly to the left/right, take-off and land. It's a well-orchestrated ballet of controlled-chaos where accidents/danger/death can happen at less than a split-second's or no notice whatsoever - and is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.

It’s pretty cool that the “teen” series fighters are some of the best in the world still to this day. F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 variants are still more than a match for most Russian and Chinese planes. They’re catching up tho, so I’m glad the U.S. has the F-22, F-35 and the upcoming NGAD. It would be cool to see 3-4 new designs over the next 10 years that stay way out in front for over 50 years like many of the teen series fighters have. With regular upgrades, of course

F-18 takeoffs are so wild to watch. Pay attention to the pilots stick hand; they hold a handle at the top of the canopy after their salute and during the cat launch because the F-18 gets especially trimmed out for takeoff and this prevents unwanted pilot reaction.

I miss it. My ship was the Independence CV-62. There is something electric about being onboard an Aircraft Carrier. It's difficult to explain to citizens. When we would leave Norfolk, we knew we were going to our job. I was an OS and we had some amazing people in OI Division. CIC is where I would spend some time as well as the plot room, the Bridge and various lookout posts. The smells and sounds are unforgettable. Just the most mundane tasks stick out in my memory like entering the island at night or watching flight ops from above the Flag Bridge. Man Overboard drills or having to go down to Snipe country to retrieve something. Fire Watches where you would walk around the entire ship in a four hour period. Looking down the passageways and not being able to see the end. FOD walks. Things that are unique to the Carrier. These videos bring back those memories. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

You're right. The reason that single engine aircraft were once phased out was because of the very reasons you are imagining. Politics forced it back into action. Recently, the nightmare rang true when a British Lightning caught FOD on launch causing an ejection and loss of aircraft. Last I heard, there was a race to the wreckage by Russians, Chinese and friendlies. You can imagine why they'd love to fish it out first. With 26 years conducting carrier operations, I can say I've seen dozens of engines flame out on the catapult stroke. Good job, politicians.

I'm sure scientists and engineers who know about this stuff will laugh at me, but I am always amazed that they found a way to successfully allow the wings to fold on fighter jets like the F/A-18 and F-35C despite all the power of the engines and forces they endure when maneuvering at top speed. I know they may not be capable of matching the agility of solid-wing Air Force aircraft, but it just blows my mind they can still do the extreme maneuvers we see in various vids.

I really love the Aircraft Carriers of the United States Navy like the USS Abraham Lincoln and the flight deck operations on the ships! The U.S. Navy planes and helicopters on a modern 2013 Aircraft Carrier flight deck like the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower are the Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning, Boeing F/A-18C/D Hornet, Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, Boeing EA-18G Growler, Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler, Northrop Grumman E-2C/D Hawkeye, Northrop Grumman C-2A(R) Greyhound, Boeing CMV-22B Osprey, and the Sikorsky SH-60B Seahawk. Compare that to an Aircraft Carrier of 27 years ago in 1986 like the USS Enterprise that had the Boeing F/A-18A/B Hornet, Northrop Grumman F-14A Tomcat, Boeing F-4N/S Phantom, Vought RF-8G Crusader, Vought A-7E Corsair, Northrop Grumman A-6E Intruder, Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler, Douglas EA-3B Skywarrior, Lockheed Martin S-3A Viking, Northrop Grumman E-2C Hawkeye, Northrop Grumman C-2A/A(R) Greyhound, Northrop Grumman C-1A Trader, Boeing CH-46E Sea Knight, and the Sikorsky SH-3H Sea King. That proves that a lot of things have changed during those 27 years with carrier air wings but living on a U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier is sure a lot of fun because everyday if you are the USN 4 Star Admiral in charge you get to see all the planes takeoff in 0 to 184 MPH in 4 seconds and land from 184 MPH to 0 in 4 seconds! but it's more fun if you are among the plane pilots doing it especially if you are ranked Captain of the Air Wing! I hope you enjoy! Thanks!
