good match in the respect that you have a young phenom vs a Senior in college who also happens to be a matured phenom.....Brooks is roughly 18 and Zahid is roughly 23, i remember not so long ago a David Taylor vs Zahid match where DT absolutely destroyed Zahid, Brooks will pay his dues and in time will close the gap the same way Zahid has done, the real issue is.........is David Taylor just now reaching his "peak" in freestyle, if so neither Brooks or Zahid has anthing to match up against Taylor, Taylor is an absolute monster, at nearly 6' 1 he is no longer cutting or keeping massive amounts of weight off, he has "paid his dues" and now is the top guy @ 86kg and that includes if J'Den comes down.........good luck to all, be humble

love the trash talk at the end. always great to see from competitors every now and again.

That ref legit hit Brooks with a passivity 42 seconds into the match when they both took 1 legit shot.......
@x2dab1845 жыл бұрын
you're gonna complain about an early passivity call, on a match where the guy was passive literally the entire 6 minutes
@thaddeus69605 жыл бұрын
@@x2dab184 My comment has more to do with how inconsistent the officials are calling these matches. No way he deserved that call in that scenario.
@LR_Echo-885 жыл бұрын
I have a buddy of mine who ref’d for awhile and he said that they are taught that they have to make a passivity call at around the 45 sec - 1 min mark in hopes of increasing action if they’re even around that time then they have to jus basically pick one which is why you get matched where one person gets called and then the other person gets called after. But with zahid he shoots so much that you can’t really call him ever
@bv63775 жыл бұрын
@@thaddeus6960 you are pretty off here. overall officiating is not good, but they are consistent in calling a passivity if its scoreless at a minute or so in.

@@LR_Echo-88 Ahhhh that explains a lot. I've noticed some strange judgment on these and many matches over the years in freestyle-- makes it hard for me to get on board with all the people that seem to drink the kool-aid saying how great Freestyle is. I DO like it better than other sports... except folk style. I also don't fall for the attraction anything gets for being "international'". If it's illogical, I don't care if it's "galactic".... I don't like it. That expectation of the refs is ridiculous and stupid. I know why it's happening as well-- the masses want to see something happen-- just anything happen-- even if they don't understand it while watching the Olympics and corporations can sell advertising to those higher ratings. Once again, corporations ruining things with money. If it isn't "exciting" to the morons who don't understand the derivatives of the oldest sports and the technique happening, then it's in danger of being replaced by trampoline or rhythmic gymnastics. Ridiculous. If you watch the Lee. vs. Oliver match, same thing happens but worse; Lee takes several shots, blocks an Oliver shot, Lee goes on the clock. I get that Oliver is a beast and experienced, but It actually changes the momentum of the match... and it's wrong.

So, technically, only one takedown. Very promising for Brooks. 2-0 by collegiate wrestling standards.

For it being a 6-0 match it was alot closer than what the score is. Brooks is strong for a freshman.
@ExerciseHelps4 жыл бұрын
Brooks strength and athletic ability saved him from 4 or 5 takedowns. If he actually engaged Zahid it would have been much worse. He was down 6-0 and wasnt engaging at all. He was happy not to get teched
