USB PRINTER UNABLE TO CONNECT | HP LASERJET PRO 400 M401dn

Hello I have a HP laser jet Pro 400 m401n printer currently it is connected to my desktop and works fine. The desk top is is using the top port in back of the printer. I am trying to install my laptop to the same printer I download the drivers to the laptop, but the problem I am having is finding the right printer cable for the bottom port in back in of the printer. I have order cable from Amazon did'nt, order a cable from HP still doesn't work the problem with the cables are they are not fitting tight and will not go all the way in the bottom printer port. I would appreciate if you have any suggestions. Thank You

Same error for me my printer m401a dose not have a network.. What can I do on windows 8.1 ?

In your printer control panel navigate "smart install and set to "off" and reconect the usb. update your printer to 2021 firmware version
