I have now listened to Dr. Tec’s testimony (parts 1 & 2) and am in awe of this woman’s ability to survive as a child with violence and killing going all around her. She not only survived but flourished as an individual and professional sharing her insights into the Holocaust. Thank you Dr. Tec, interviewer Susan Peirez, Steven Spielberg and USC Shoal Foundation and Institute.

Dr. Tec....amazing. She is a fascinating woman. After surviving the Holocaust, and going through all she did, she used her education to better study & understand the enemies of her people. Wow! Such strength.

Her husband, Dr. Leon Tec, was my therapist when I was a child (Westport, Ct.). I ate a lot of Nechama's cookies when I was a kid. I was about 8, 9, 10 years old at the time. My great uncle Jacob was with the U.S. diplomatic service. He was with the U.S. embassy in Berlin during the 1930s. My maternal grandfather, German-American, was an American Admiral. He helped lead the naval bombardment of Normandy on D-Day. His cousin, Heino, was an S.S. officer on the Eastern Front, who was executed by the Soviets after the war for his crimes. I had these vivid daydreams of being in war scenes when I was a kid, which I started to act out (silently and non-violently, I'm happy to say); so my father sent me to Dr. Tec.

What an amazing woman! From what she told us, she is truly her fathers daughter. She was also a very astute Little girl.. I am looking forward to reading her books. God bless you, Nechama.

What questions I have is How does one survive? Like what were the six traits of survivors?
@rescuepetsrule68424 жыл бұрын
Mrs. Tec starts the 6 traits here at 00:00:20- here they are, and I am glad I have all 6- :) : 1)individuality 2) independence 3) long history of doing good deeds 4) matter-of-fact perception of the rescue/no bragging/simply saw it as a duty 5) not done after rationalizing/no worrying 6) "universalization perception of the rescue"- they did not see a Jew, but a human being in need. I think she is very smart!

@@rescuepetsrule6842 You cite the six traits of rescuers. The question is about the six traits of survivors.

I listed them below.

oops- never mind.

@@mrbatman4robin After listening to hundreds of survivors, they all had various traits that helped them. I guess we could come up with a list, but they didn't all have the same traits, and many will say they were mostly lucky. The people that seemed to be strong physically and mentally before the camps were often the fastest to die. I don't think we'll ever know, especially when many survivors say they stopped believing in God, some were weak even before the camps, etc.- no rhyme or reason to it. Most people consider me to be a very strong person, and I have survived tragedies that would send others to a 'home', but I wouldn't have lasted long with a blood sugar problem, so how you were beforehand doesn't seem to matter.

SOME INDIVIDUALS SURVIVED TO TELL THE MOST INTERESTING IMPORTANT AND HEARTFELT TRUE STORIES. WAS IT DIVINELY PURPOSED? I THINK SO. ( HOWEVER GERMANY IS A GREAT AND PROGRESSIVE COUNTRY TODAY> GOD IS THE MOST GLORIOUS.)o9.06.2023.

I appreciate this interview very much. Why? I don't know. -Look. I am German, a Christian, a man, and I thought gay too. My mother didn't want a son, only girls. But she only told me so on her death bed, when my own live was almost over too. - When I was 5 years of age I had a dream. God Abraham, God Issac, God Jacob,..God father, son and holy ghost. My blonde mother was cold as ice to me. I didn't kown it differently. She was hurt too: No war and no soldiers anymore.- So a dream predicted me to become a scholar on two women..Two American actresses..most beautiful bleached blondes in Hollywood...and I found out about their suffering, their untimely deaths in an early age..and their brilliance. My belief in God gave me everything....So I love everything Jewish.
