I loved hearing this story and still think these stories are so important for the kids of our current world to hear. History has a way of repeating itself when we forget what has happened. Thank you so much for sharing yourself.

Thank you so much, Bertie, for sharing your survival story with us. It is indeed a story of survival. Your parents were very wise to do everything they did to keep you all alive. Blessings to you and your family.

The part about feeling unworthy of trauma because of being told „You were a baby in hiding who was survived and did not starve in a Ghetto” was harrowingly sad. I was so happy to hear she found her Community and whoever organized that conference did something extremely important.

Bertie told this story so well. She’s a special person that touches people with her story. It’s so important to hear this truthful account of what was done to the Jews in her native Dutch country.

Thank our Bertie for sharing your story💜 and that you found a community of other hidden children. I can only imagine the trauma you experienced of separation from your mother, leading to difficulty in making deep human connections. Bless you for your insights and thoughtful interview.

I listen to many of these survivor stories . Thank you ! Many survivors have written about their experiences . One I read was by Meip Geis who helped hide the Frank family . Anne Remembered is the name of it , I think .
