Cambodian Genocide Survivor Theary Seng | Asian-American Heritage Month | USC Shoah Foundation

Cambodian Genocide survivor Theary Seng was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 1971. Theary immigrated to the United States in 1979, after her parents were murdered during the genocide. She earned her law degree from the University of Michigan in 2000, and has since worked as a lawyer, human rights activist, and author. In 2004, Theary returned to Cambodia to help build democracy, and continues to endure arrests and trials as a result of her activism.
In 2011, Theary recorded her testimony with USC Shoah Foundation.
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
