Garmin MINI 2 Product page states it comes with "vehicle power cables". It does not state that it specifically a USB to USB-A cable with a cigarette lighter adapter nor model of cars it's compatible with. I purchased it for use in rentals cars as I'm a frequent traveler and am in rentals cars for work about 75% of the time. Many new cars I've been in have sole USB-C outlet to which this is not compatible. Another thing the product page leaves out is that you must use their cables (per their techs as to my inoperable camera) nor do they offer a USB-A to USB-C cable for purchase.

The standard in cars has been to have a cigarette lighter. The term "vehicle power cables" is a bit vague, but you would have thought that it was connected via a cigarette lighter. I would also say that this is the fairly common term. The term is also very vague in my language, but you should actually know what it means. You shouldn't have expected a USB-C cable, because this is obviously atypical. I completely agree with you that the product description is really vague in this regard. There are at least no photos. But I would also strongly advise reading the product description and manuals carefully in future before buying anything. Why you can't use other cables is a complete mystery to me. For personal reasons, I can say that Garmin support has completely failed me. Statements were made that made no technical or logical sense. I had a Mini 2 that couldn't cope with the brief power interruption when the engine started. They sent me a replacement device with the same error, because it's probably a serial problem. I had told them about this fear from the beginning, but the point was ignored. But first I was supposed to buy a compatible SD card. Then the capacitor was supposedly defective, which is why the replacement device was sent. My impression was that "Garmin support" has no idea about "Garmin devices".

Viofo VS1 appears to no longer be available through your link.

Looks like they might have discontinued it because I don't find it when I search Amazon.

Hi. Could you please check if it works with power supplies having USB C PD (power delivery, fast charging) support? My car has PD capable USB sockets from factory and the Vantrue dashcam didn't work with it

My Viofo 119 Mini 2 is plugged into a 2.1 amp type A charging socket and works just fine.

not sure about this but with 4K, each pixel is smaller in the camera sensor. that means that while the resolution is sharper in the day, the pixel takes in a lot less light at night and thus may not be as good as a 2K sensor. this is just a theory.

That is often the case with dash cameras as none of them use larger sensors. But over the years better brands have gotten better at their low light image processing with HDR. I feel it's just a case by case basis tho. I use 4K blackvue cameras in both of my vehicles. They don't have the best 4k video but they have the best cloud support so there's always pros and cons to different brands and models.

@@integralcam which one do you use ? and which one would you recommend for good cloud support? something not pricey please.

Just for future reference it’s Headliner not Headboard.👍🏻

Need more dashcams with a suction cup. I don’t want the adhesive on my work vehicle
@mth4696 ай бұрын
adhesive is good --- a solid fixture. in an impact crash, that suction cup won't hold. the camera will come flying off just when you need it most.

I'm not thrilled with the lack of pivoting to center the image.

Ideally you'd put it right next to the base of the mirror but I have a blackvue camera in the way there so I had to set it off to the side. Pivoting left or right is less common in dash cams actually.
