Bruce - glad you enjoyed it, I had to look at it again to see what I'd been saying?? I'm getting older, so more stright talking. You get less and less tolerant of plain stupid behaviour!! and very frustrated that businesses will spend millions on tech that doesn't work but refuse to do the cheapest thing and use best practice....

Paul, Thanks for the tutorials and simple breakdowns of some complex LSS tools. I have purchased all of your books and shared your KZbin channel with many of my colleagues. Keep the videos coming. Thanks again Paul.

I like that, inspection plans are a sign you haven't got a clue what you're doing. That's brilliant. :) Control plans instead inspection plan.

Gabriel - yes if you truly knew how your process worked you would dial in a the correct settings and sit back and count the cash. But if you're not sure you have to measure everything, just in case....

Paul Allen, very well explained the concept of control plan and the difference between a control plan and a inspection plan. As you said we all are in the process of money making and a bit of proper proactive plan saves us nine... DFMEA/PFMEA and control plan must be in place as part of the NPI process positively before the first component is delivered to the customer...👍

Hi Paul. Thanks for the clear explanation. How about if we couldn't strictly control the input specs or quality?e.g in the agricultural industry where input is direct from crops. Can we have an effective control plan? Furthermore is it possible to implement 6sigma or LSS to the operation?
@paulallen53213 жыл бұрын
Hi Skyr - good to hear from you. Yes you can still have a control plan. A control plan is a set of operating rules, that are always followd, by everyone. Let's say you can't control the amount of Starch in potatoes. You measure the incoming starch content and have an official response. So if starch = 6 temperature = 78C if starch is 10 temperature = 87C. no leaving it to the skill of the operator, that's a road to chaos...

@@paulallen5321 Thank you for your feedback. Just to clarify on developing the control or rules in control plan, are the control/rules must be proven effective statistically (cp/cpk, pp/ppk) or is it ok just by developing from historical practice/experience? I found it is very hard to achieve capable process due to inability to statistically control the raw material quality. Again thank you in advance for your knowledge sharing.

Ultimately - you're going to have to find rules that work with the physics in your process. But you will only find the right answer by picking a rule and sticking to it. Even if the rule is wrong, consistently following it will mean you will learn so much and eventually find the best controls...
