Use a normal IBM PC floppy drive on an Amiga computer.

I just tested the cord. It works awesome. I added a Toshiba drive and it works flawlessly. If you want to use that drive port get this cord. I have not added a 2nd drive yet but I cannot see how it could not work. The PCB is much more professional-looking now with dip switches. Nice product!

After I added 2 drives it no longer powers up at the port. I power it externally & only 1 drive works. Either pc or gotek, not both. The seller says the df1: has to be gotek so now I have a gotek as df1: and the pc part is not connected. It says df2: bad because no drive is there. Have you used 2 drives?

@@cevoner yes I have it in my ultimate Amiga tower. A ibm floppy and a GoTek. Will have to double check it

+David Halligan. -- yes i live in the states.. in the late 80's and early 90's the Amiga was doing ok thanks to desk top video and the video toaster.. just look at Babylon 5..and you see what the AMIGA can do. but these days..yea import is the way to go....

+David Halligan ... hi david. the drive I am using in this video is 10 years old at least. it's a sony drive 1.44. it came from a old old cole PC sitting in an,old Wherehouse it was very dusty. I cleanes it up and works perfect.,,i did try other drives and all seemed to work perfectly..and much more quiet then the original Amiga drives used in there line.

I have just recently got one of these cables and i can confirm the cable is faultless and works with the gotek and IBM PC Drives. I've had it working as gotek df1 and the PC Floppy drive as DF2 powered perfectly with the same cable on my classic a500 at the same time, then simply changing the jumpers on the board enabling DF0 booting on the external gotek and the IBM PC Floppy drives as a df0 (Real DF0) with an original Amiga internal drive still connected (3 drives connected in total all of them switchable to df0) ... I'm not joking when i say this, but any Amiga user that does not have one of these cables is missing out big time.... A1200 works perfectly in workbench with both drives as well, but.. with a1200 you cant use the two button mouse boot selector to force df1 as df0... wont work like the a500 as a different modification is needed for the a1200 not the fault of the cable tho!!! Sadly no. It only can support 880k disks, not the HD 1.76m disks

I'm actually not concerned with Amiga's 1.76 mb format, but if there was a way that this mod could read&write 1.44mb Fat12 formatted disks with something CrossDOS. it would go from just replacing your dead drive, to actually providing a service that would overcome the major weakness in all older Amiga drives. Will CrossDOS even work for reading 720K DOS disks?

@@Ratteler all the cable does is turn a IBM floppy drive into a working Amiga 880k disk drive. Best it will do is allow 720meg disks to be formatted. To actually woek with a 1.44m IBM floppy you would need a true Amiga 1.76HD drive. And they are rare
