Hello! - What are those silver pickups you are using in your Billy Sheehan Signature Bass? Did you have them custom colored? Also, what type of pickup are you using on your blue and yellow VH "bumble-bee" bass in the neck position? Thanks!
@twistieonbass2 ай бұрын
Hey!! Thanks for watching. The pickups are the Billy Sheehan signature DiMarzio Relentless pickups and I have a video coming soon on how I put them in. On the bumble-bee I used the DiMarzio WillPower pickups. This was a few years ago and were the ones that were on the Attitude basses. If I was to do it again, I would definately go with the Relentless as they are awesome!

Just watching helix stomp pedal videos and randomly came across this! Me and my pregnant girlfriend met you at the winery dogs gig in Bristol, uk last year, how random 😂 hope you’re keeping well 🎸🤘

I use my HX Stomp as a complete bass rig and it is perfect in all situations.

Does the pitch shifter sound good? Some songs I need to go down a full step. My digiTech drop does okay.

@@GoMeatless Hey!! Thanks for watching. I use the Pitch Wham to detune and it works pretty well. I use it quite a lot, especially to drop half a step (-1 or +1). The Poly Wham works better, but uses a LOT of DSP so not really feasible on the HX Stomp.
@twistieonbassАй бұрын
@@GoMeatless I predominantly use it to drop 1/2 step, but I have a few setups that I change a whole step (-2) and even one that I do +5. The playback is pretty solid, but I’ve found if you turn on the noise gate or add a gate in front you get the best results.

I'm a gigging player doing disco, RnB, and modern pop/rock. I need dependable synth sounds. I like what you & IMA are doing with this unit but when it comes to Hi-tech, I'm almost Amish😂 Any info would be appreciated 👍🏼😁

Absolutely. What would you like to know?

@@twistieonbass I do a lot of disco/pop in my line of work. How steep is the learning curve for creating bass synth sounds? I'm a rock guy so all I ever used for years was a OD so I'm not the most tech savvy cat in the jungle. Any advice would be appreciated.👍🏼🙂

@@craighill3715 Sounds like fun!! There are a number of synth presets on the Dr Tone site (drtone.theblackcreekband.com/preset/synth-bass-pack/) and Ian Martin Allison has a Preset Pack that you can buy that I believe has some really great Synth presets. I don't use Synth sounds much, preferring to do it with a Mc Millan 12-step and my ipad, but those guys are a great place to start. If you want to build a preset yourself, I believe Distortion/Overdrive into a Filter and then some Delay is the generally viewed signal path.

I don't understand how people get these great sounds out of the helix. When I try to set up an amp, it always sounds brittle and scooped, it sometimes feels like the parameters don't really do much.

I know exactly how you feel. Keep at it, and you'll unlock some great tones. A great place to start with really fantastic "flat"/neutral bass sounds is stuff from jon willis drtone.theblackcreekband.com/?fbclid=IwAR2eVvoRggZn_6ZXFOxvHQc2EwAbWZ-Y9cmNjEKtRLuGNPmHsF0B55-lHLM . The man is a genius. or you can grab a copy of my book where I describe how I approach setting up a signal chain and how the bass effects work geni.us/DitchAmp_Book

Thanks for this! How good is the pitch shifter on bass?
@twistieonbass7 ай бұрын
Hey!! Thanks for the feedback. I often use the pitch shifter (Pitch Wham) to drop from E to Eb tuning and I find it works great. I have a video on that coming out soon. The PolyCapo, PolyPitch and PolyWham are outstanding, but each of those does consume a fair bit of DSP depending on what else you have going on in your patch.

What are the two right side pedals?
@twistieonbass7 ай бұрын
Hi!! The two footswitches on the HX Stomp are from Pedalnetics (pedalnetics.com/product/helauxy-duo-mini/). The other two devices on the right of the pedal board are the Line 6 Relay G10S wireless. I use two as my Yamaha Attitude has two outputs.
