Counseling's are a good tool and is a good way of showing an NCO cares, but unless consistently done correctly I think just day-to-day interaction with your soldier is more effective in my opinion. I've also only been in group and have only really emphasized counseling's when trying to create a paper trail, and I feel like it seems more necessary when you have more soldiers in a bigger conventional unit. Either way, thank you for the breakdown Sarnt!

Soldiers pay attention to NCOs that care and will go above and beyond for them. Acknowledge your statement about the paper trail fact. This is a common practice throughout the army. I think we can also use the paper trail to support promotion, waivers, NCOERs and PCS Awards. It is all on how the leader uses it, but they have to know how to use it. You are very welcome brother.Take care and I appreciate the love.

SFC if a soldier already received counseling and it was signed, can I go back and change the original counseling after the soldier has already signed it? or do I have to write a whole new counseling

This didn’t help like I thought it would. I was hoping you’d go more in detail about each Key Point instead of just reading them off.

@@ramenramrod you make sense. At this time, I gave a walk through on how to use it. I can definitely revisit this subject and make a video that can discuss each point. Thanks for the honesty.
