Most people will just fold their knee to one side when trying this golf swing drill but if we use the ground to rotate our hips, this engages those all-important ground reaction forces and combined with the other drills shown here, you too can start to recruit the ground reaction forces and integrate them into your golf swing for more power and consistency. With those improvements, you'll start to play better on the golf course and see your handicap lower itself as you take less shots in golf games.

I train in Brazilian jiu jitsu due to my job as armed security and that move in the first part is similar to the hip escape move known as a shrimp in bjj but bjj has helped my golf game helping me gain more understanding for golf

Marcus , much appreciated this video answering my question I sent to you . Your in-depth explanation was awesome. I fully understand it now as to the kinesiology of the movement and it's importance to have that part of the sequence chain to nail the golf swing . As they say Knowledge is power . I like to say Clarity , brings me lightness and effortlessness . Your the first to answer my question with both Knowledge and Clarity . Others have tried but failed . Cheers my friend.

Absolutely brilliant video Marcus. I am loving these videos where you are giving tips/drills on how to expand (or alternate methods) from the GRFi board. Hopefully, you have a lot more in the pipeline 🤞😊

Is there a timing element to this? I ask because I have a tendency to make an over the top move bring that leg in too soon

I’ve seen countless videos that say the opposite (right foot pulls back to move the right hip) is what moves you into the downswing and the left foot pushes into the ground and towards the ball to clear the left hip. What are your thoughts on that? Or is this just a different “feel” to create the proper shear force that I’m describing?

this might just be the holly grail that i ve been searching all these years. i am applying Lord Harrington's method for months and it helped tremendously but never quiet sure the mechanic/logic behind it. Yours certainly set more light on this subject. Thank YOU 👍

I’m getting confused. How does this tie in with the 1,2,3 drill shifting the COM to the left and dropping and popping?

How much ground force is being applied from the lead leg? It looks like the lead leg is more reactionary to the trail leg

Is the downforce much more lower body down, upper body down, or an equal mix of each?
@GRFGolf
@GRFGolf 11 ай бұрын
Upper body in terms of COM goes down then up. It reacts to the lower body. There are abdominal pressures down and out but these aren't a conscious action.

@GRFGolf thanks. I've been working on a conscious lowering of the upper body in transition and it makes sense why it's hit or miss. I likely need more lowering body lowering...regaining flex in that right knee...this video helps. Thanks as always.

@@jamesdailey5485 I wouldn't encourage an active (more reactive) tensioning of the upper body (will occur when deliberately trying to drive a movement). It's a full body movement and should occur through awareness not manipulation 👍

@GRFGolf This is what I'm finding...digging it out of the dirt with the help of you guys. I've always been an "upper body" dominant mover. I'm retraining to have a lot more lower but without the usual lower body lateral mess.
