This torn paper technique is so easy you will certainly get hooked trying more and more! Reveal some beautiful Designer Series Paper, a lovely stamped scene or a sentiment when a strip of the card front appears to have been peeled away.
Card Base 8-1/12” x 5-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
Top layer (torn part) 5-1/4” x 4”
Designer Series Paper (DSP) or stamped card stock to be revealed: 5” x 3-3/4” - or at least enough to cover the opening.
Sentiment stamp and embellishments.

Yes, that is one way to think of it! Some papers can be a bit busy or bold if you use too much of it on one project. Here they are highlighted with a good amount of "white space" around them to make it easier on the eye. Thank you for watching and for your comment!

Thank you...so glad you like it. You can mail it, just expect possible extra postage and the roll might get a little squished. The smaller you keep it, the better for that. Someone suggested maybe bubble wrap over it....might work, but will definitely be thicker. I bet Mom is worth it though! 😉😁

Lovely cards!! It would be cool to use DSP on top AND for the reveal with paper like the last one, or any other that is monochromatic and has images you can colour. It would be a real Wizard of Oz effect with the tear-away part. The monochromatic, uncoloured piece would be on top and torn down the middle. And you could colour in the images on the piece that gets revealed. You'd need to line them up so the images line up for full effect. Hmmm... I need to see if I have any DSP like that.... 😊

What a fun twist! I may have missed it, but is the top (rolled) layer light weight cardstock or is it paper (more like copy paper)? I do have quite a collection of patterned papers from old card club collections and I am wondering if this would be a good way to use it up. Thanks for the inspiration!
@stampwithlorraine5074

Hi Bev. Thanks for asking. The solid color top layers are card stock (the white is a little lighter weight than the colored), and the printed top layer is patterned paper, which is much lighter.

Sometimes I show it, sometimes I don't, as I am more involved with working on the card fronts.😉 and, yes, I have stamps that say the card is handmade and have the Stampin' Up! Copywrite symbol on them. I then add my handwritten initials. Thanks for asking.

Great designs. Would dry embossing the white CS help to breakdown the fibers & then tear it? Thanks
@stampwithlorraine5074
@stampwithlorraine5074 2 жыл бұрын
It is easy enough to tear, but I was also thinking the layer might be interesting with a subtle dry embossing. I haven't done it yet, thinking I would keep to a clean and simple look for these examples. It is a possibility the dry embossing might be too much and detract from the unique effect of the technique. Let's both try it and see what we think! :-)

You don't really need specific card dimensions on this design. Start with your standard card base, then cut a layer slightly smaller than the card front. Tear the opening in that layer and then cut a pretty paper that is slightly larger than the opening. As you can see on my cards, the width of the torn part is different on each one and I did not measure it. Try one or two - you'll see how easy it is! Good luck.

@@lauriewatkins9394 Oh, good! Glad you found them. Thanks for letting me know. Funny you should mention about your name. I think my parents once told me that they wanted to name me Laurie (or Lori... whatever spelling). but people "back then"....1960....told them that is was a nickname for Lorraine and so they named me Lorraine, but I was never called Laurie!

Good luck - like I've told others, it depends on how loose or tight, big or small it is rolled. You could ask the PO worker to hand stamp it for you - might cost a little extra, but perhaps worth it.
