This got me trying to figure out how to take a slow motion video hands free and learned that you can setup a custom command in voice control. You have to make a custom command for starting and keeping a slow motion video going since the button has to be pressed and slid to the right. It was fairly simple to create and I assigned the word “Start” to perform the action and “Stop” as the custom command to stop recording slow motion since all that is needed it the button for recording to be pressed again. I also setup the side button as a quick action to turn voice controls on or off so when I was done, I could turn it off easily without having to go through the settings.

Thanks for the idea! You can go further and use a command instead of saying "turn volume down." Select "Voice Control" >"Customize Commands" > "Custom" > "Create New Command" >" Phrase" Enter the phrase you want (I entered "smile" or you can use something like "say cheese"). > "Action" >"Run Gesture" and touch once at the bottom, where your "home button" should be. Dee, yes, this is a very quick and easy method to take hands-free photos and video. The only thing I don’t like about it is how busy it makes the screen. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But it is a perfectly workable solution. Thank you!

Why don't you use the command 'Show names'? Then you'll see the name of every button, which makes it even easier to make a picture handsfree. Of course the volume buttons work too, but now you just use these commands (from the homescreen) to make a picture with the regular camera button: 1. "Tap Camera" 2. "Tap Take Picture"

The method to create a voice command for taking video is the same. The only difference is you will invoke the voice command when you are in the video mode of the camera. Simply create a shortcut to start recording and a shortcut to end recording. When you’re in video mode, saying these commands will start and stop video recording. If you’re not in video mode of the camera app, they will have no effect.
