You could buy the expensive Alesis USB to MIDI cable or just buy the AudioLink cable I have in the video for much less than the Alesis here: www.audiomentor.com/gear-midi...
Got a digital piano or an electronic keyboard lying around at home? Turn them into a MIDI controller to make music on your DAW simply with just a cable.
Don't fall into buying those super cheap USB to MIDI converters! Those can induce latency and connection issues. And sometimes they don't even work at all. True story. :)

Some keyboards do not have a MIDI IN and a MIDI OUT, but only an unique USB connection; but it works as well; in that case you just use an USB cable to connect the keyboard to the computer (the same you use to connect a printer to the computer); it works the same as with the connection with MIDI IN and MIDI OUT; in order for your software to dialog with the keyboard, you must select the corresponding MIDI input; open the MIDI select dialog box, and you should see the connection with the keyboard if this one is ON; once you have selected it, you can play on the keyboard from the computer, and you can also record on the computer what you play on the keyboard (if your software allows it).

Do I need a driver?
@pascalxavier3367
@pascalxavier3367 6 жыл бұрын
When the keyboard has an USB connection, no driver needed; when the keyboard has MIDI IN and MIDI OUT sockets, they are controlled from a computer through a special MIDI cable, and then a driver is needed, which is provided by the maker of the cable.
@ariobintangnugraha1916
@ariobintangnugraha1916 6 жыл бұрын
But I tried connecting the keyboard using a USB cable. And it won't connect, and the driver cannot be installed (Roland Juno). That is why I was thinking about buying this cable in the first place. Do you know what might be wrong with my setup?

+Ario Bintang Bugraha You must use a software which is able to handle MIDI. In a such software, you have a "settings" button which allows you to define the source of MIDI; you must click it, and select "MIDI USB" among the various options which are proposed. If this option is not available, then the cable is not correctly connected (or the keyboard is not on).

Many thanks, I been tryin to find out about "is learning keyboard the same as piano?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Penaycer Rudimentary Preponderance - (just google it ) ? It is a great one of a kind guide for discovering how to play the piano easily minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cousin got cool results with it.

Hey man, great video, thank you! I wanted to ask you if it’s possible to play REAL-TIME different sounds than what FP-30X provides via VST into a DAW for example. I am sure there are better sounds out there than what FP-30X has available, that’s why I am looking into this. Lastly, will the audio be output from the monitors connected to the computer or do the monitors have to be connected to the FP-30X directly?

Alright - to everyone out there in YTlandia, if you're looking for some ideas...I bought a PSR-433 w/stand and bench for $150CAD (KIjiji). It's got some 'ok' sounds but...I'm fondly in love with the Hammond/Leslie iconic sound. And I found it and got it happening yesterday - jamming out to SomaFM/SecretAgent - such fun! This winter's gonna fly by! I'm using the std USB 'printer' type cable in to my 2012 HP Pavilion laptop (running non-TPM Windows 11). The latency/lag (fully adjustable) is a bit annoying but...with a more powerful laptop that would be no problem. As it is it's tolerable. The software I'm using is GG Audio's Blue3 which includes the Leslie cabinets (fully adjustable). It's a stand alone version. I'm playing SecretAgent via Firefox and the USB audio mixes overtop so fine! Smiling from ear to ear 🙂
