We gave up on vegetables about four years ago and planted our big garden plot with nothing but zinnias. Absolutely beautiful and I spend each summer gifting them to friends, family, nursing homes, and more!

I tried to grow zinnias too, but deer and rabbit ate most of them 😅 Good for you on your beautiful garden.

I live in the mountains of Montana, so my growing season is only 2 months. I can grow potatoes, peas, and lettuce outside. So I grow tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers in my house year round in a hydroponic system. Just started eating cucumbers this week! They are smaller than from an outside garden, but taste so good!
@jeannewagner81338 ай бұрын
Wonderful ideas for those scraps, thank you. :) I don't have a garden ... yet. My sister has 3 hydroponic stands and grows lots of vegetables. My interest has been piqued these last couple of years to start growing my own food. My mom had a giant garden and grew all the supermarket staples. We also had an apple tree and a pear tree. Enough for the neighbors too. She canned but didn't cure. I just never got the bug to do that. As for all the 'weeds' well God has provided for all our needs and what mainstream food providers and big pharma want us to believe is these 'weeds' are no good for us, but they are food and medicine. We have lost the art of preparing them over time. However there are still great books out there that will help. Thank you for being a stable presence out here in cyberland. Blessings to you to and your family..

I grow herbs and flowers. I also have a few cherry trees. I’ve wanted to grow chives for a while, because the purple flowers are pretty and they can be used for cooking too. Thanks for your video and chats! I appreciate this sharing time with you. :-) I am also going to try growing in pots this year, maybe cherry tomatoes and basil for a salad with mozzarella cheese 😊 Jennifer from Virginia

Good ideas on the strip cards. I live in Florida and it’s very hard to grow things but I do grow parsley, green onions, kale. Right now I’m trying to grow cukes and tomatoes and hoping I get something out of them. Thanks for the great talk.

Always Tomatoes and my favorite herbs. I’m trying cucumbers, carrots and bell peppers this year. We may try potatoes…our growing season is a little bit shorter in western Montana. Have to plant on our deck as we have many deer whom destroy any garden we’ve tried. So this year a deck garden is what we will try. ❤ My daughter in law has started Freeze Drying this past year and has been successful with that. So I may try that.

I meant to mention… I love using all my scraps from any craft project. Thank you for more tips on different types of cards. I try to give my self time to always make a card or 2 as soon as I’m done with a scrapbook project or other paper craft. This helps me cut down on adding more scraps to my stash. Been doing this busting scraps technique since Jan 2024. 😊 Good luck on your garden… gardening is my 2nd hobby after paper crafting g. 😊

Interesting talk. My father grew lots of tomatoes and rhubarb and strawberries and green peppers etc. so much more tasty than store bought (and healthier too!)

We use to have a vegetable garden and would try one new item every year or two. My favorite was potatoes. I loved to get in the dirt (sometimes mud) and dig them up. Different shapes and sizes and oh so good! When it comes to the world situation, my husband and I always pray for wisdom and discernment in how to live in these last days.

I have a raised garden which was built by my son. After a knee replacement I couldn’t get on my knees anymore. I grow tomatoes, zucchini, sunflowers, a few peas, melons and whatever else I want. I don’t bottle my crop anymore but we love fresh produce to eat. I have a dehydrator and use it.

I don't live in fear. God is in control and I rely on Him. I enjoy gardening and have always had a garden of some type since marriage. (over 40 years). Green beans, peas, onions and greens for sure. Squash of some kind. Pumpkin! (going to try for the first time). Good luck with your garden. Blessings!

I love the idea of growing veggies and some flowers, but I have a very shady yard. I always grow a lettuce bowl as it can sit on a small sunny area of my deck. I try to grow some peppers, but not much luck.

Beautiful cards! We don't really have a garden. I have tried growing tomatoes and peppers in pots but we didn't really have success because we didn't have enough sun. Well thanks to mother nature and high winds uprooting a tree which crushed our garage and damaged our small yard we now have a lot more sun. It's been 9 months and it's still a mess. But if we ever get it fixed I might try again.

Ahhh gardening. I used to do a lot of it but my knees are not strong anymore... LOL. I do love to have the self sufficient feeling, lately I have been practicing bread making. I have always been into doing our own home cooking too. I love your cards from scraps, awesome. I hope you're husband is doing better :)

Love these ideas. Hoping to get our garden boxes up and going again. I had alot of strawberries. But with chipmunks, they ate the berries and last winter killed everything. I was upset. I had used straw to cover them,so last year it all grew great :( . We've stocked up on survival foods and vacuumed sealed alot. Should have survival items. And water.. I'd like to have a large garden. We've dehydrated vesison,into jerkey.. really good. And other items. Thanks for Sharing your thoughts and ideas. Happy Easter to you and your family..

Hi Anna.....I always enjoy your ideas and conversations. In answer to your garden question..........I always grow a large garden. We also have apple trees. Now, in March we are still eating potatoes and apples that were grown last year. My reasons for growing our own food is to have chemical free food and also having what we need if the day arises that things are not available in the stores. I do canning and freezing and would love to have a freeze dryer but know that will never happen with the cost of those units. It is great to sit down to a meal and look at what we are eating and almost the complete meal has come from our garden. I also have chickens (for eggs and fun) and Angora rabbits for spinning the wool---I know we could eat them as well but at this time are not growing them for that reason. Years ago I did and domestic rabbit is about the healthiest meat you can eat--and it is good. I just have a hang up about butchering them. ...........I have lots of those scraps that are strips and intend to make some of the cards you showed us ..........thanks !

After using those white strips I might run them through a embossing folder. No garden this year last year was hard trying to go places and no one to help out and its just getting hotter every year and garden doesn't produce.
