I have bought a new car & will keep it for 15 yrs. How about that, I wonder.. btw, in 2019 Oct, I had bought i20 petrol sports+ at 8.2 with 15 yr road tax. I got a company discount of 75k as it was BS4. Now a newer i20 same sports model costs 10+. After 3yr & 8 months, a second hand dealer is offering me 6 lakh. Probably he can easily sell it at 7. Bcoz the newer car prices has increased by a huge margin. This is fact.

My friend did same calculation and bought an old car..!! Maintenance cost of old car is absolutely high than the cost you have taken in this video..!! Old car is smart choice in terms of saving money in theory only. But one need to have enough knowledge of cars in details.. Most of the used cars in dealership are used cars by taxi drivers, they tamper the meter.. They drive cars over 200000 KM within 2-3 years.. Car looks brand new from outside but its retired from heart.. In such cases old car is costlier than new car.. like in my friends situation..!!

@@MrXboy143 that’s not true in every case dude I have seen people buying Swift in 3-4 lakhs and then selling it for 2 - 3lakhs after 5 years of usage if he bought a new car the resale value would drop drastically. If you’re getting a car at good condition it’s worth it .

A question - In an old car costing you calculated it twice only, however the first car is still with us so, maintenance, insurance, running cost will be calculated for 10 years and then for the second car it will be for 5 years.

Hi bro Very nice effort Feeling very happy to watch it Only the point I don't agree is that salvage value of an old car should be less than 3.5 lacs and it's maintenance cost is also higher than 75k and 1 percent ROI is too high to expect unless we bear a higher level of risk Mutual funds , SIP , stock etc are subject to market risk so it should not be involved as example of risk free investment I use to contribute extra EPF deduction for risk free (optimum) investment and its rate is 8.25 per annum so you could have quote this example in this video

It looks good in theory, but I think getting a good used car under whatever amount purely depends on luck, also when it comes to 5 year old period. People tamper with meters, engine and a lot of old parts. You won't be getting the tech and comfort of new car. Always select cars based on your needs. And when it comes to replacing parts, old cars is gonna cost a lot and you might not get parts easily. So think before you follow anything.

Even theory is wrong. Second hand car maintenance is huge and keeps getting worse over time. And savings per month he is talking, that savings is cannot be reinvested, since you don’t have that money. Remember is said to buy new car you took loan of 9 lakh and in old car you took only 4 lakh loan. The difference in loan of 5 lakh you don’t have it at all, how you will save it monthly the month that you don’t have at all unless you get another loan for it and then keep investing 5k monthly saved which is fool. This CA needs more experience

New car depreciation value is no more based on its buying cost nowdays.. its totally based on what price same model is sold in new car market . For example if you go to buy new swift vxi now from new car market it will cost u 8 lacs on road atleast.. so 5 years old swift vxi you will get around 5 to 5.5 lacs in old car market wherein its 5 years old price was less than 7 lacs.. so depreciation logic is not working here.. it depends upon purely how ur car model is performing in used car market and how its performing in new car market.. higher demand.. higher price..

There are lots of factors. After BS VI, old cars are too costly. You might not receive piece of mind in new car vs old cars. Also, it is not necessary that you will not land on good old car..

Check in second hand Market old I10 sports in good condition 5yr old is selling at 5.5+ lakh while if you buy new I10 sports it will cost u some where 8 lakhs. In above example you are showing Brezza which use to cost 10lakh 5yr back now if you go to buy this breeza in second hand Market after 5yr the price will be 8lakh +.

I have very low running like average 500-600 kms per month. I bought balena for 9 lakhs . Now I feel I should have bought a second hand Jeep for that money and I would have felt better as the new car feeling fades away after 8-10 months. And new car has much more depreciation then old car.

Bhai ek cheez bhool gaya. New car pe permanent road tax bhi lagta hai 50000 ye aur bhi badke + registration charges Old car me road tax nahi hota and RC transfer kam kharch me hojata hai. Old car 70% log cash me letey hai loan nahi lete to interest bhi bach jaya. Insurance old car me 3rd party wala lengey jo 4500 per year rahega. Service mai show room me nahi karwake bahar local mechanic ke pass karwao to maintain charge aur bhi bacheyga. Old car me mileage increase hota hai. New car me kam hota hai and slowly increase hota.

Look my comment bro. This is wrong explanation. New car will always save your day and headache of infinite maintenance. Look car that fits your budget with least loan if personal use.

This is wrong from financial perspective. First wrong is maintenance cost it’s not just 1.5 in used car, and this increases exponentially over the age and people believe it’s based on condition of car which is partially true but car mechical parts do wear and tear over time. You will see ac working poor, fuel pumps and water pumps breaking, water and fuel lines starts leaking over time and worst is rat bites. Second wrong example is saved per month cost. Remember you didn’t had money as capex and you took loan. The money that you don’t have at all there is no logical savings calculation and investment to that. If you want to invest the difference then logically you would still need to take loan for that capex 😂

CA Rohit, please get me a car that is 5 year old in 50% value. You don't seem to be aware of market conditions. I have been searching to buy premium hatchback car which in 2018 was at 8.5 lac a brand new car now its being sold for 7 lac after 5 years usage (check all online dealers, cars24, spinny, olx quikr etc for used car rates).
