Hi there, I just bought a 2019 yesterday. I've always driven Honda's so I have a lot of questions. Is it me or is the engine kinda loud on startup and at low speeds?
@jayherting743 ай бұрын
@@tracy488I have a 2021 with 46,000 mi. Yes it's very loud when you hit the gas inside the cabin. I kind of like it because it makes me feel like I'm one with the vehicle. And it sounds a lot sportier and faster than it is. I also have a vibration in the dash when I hit the gas. It's been like that since I bought it and they said there was nothing they could do about it so I just lived with it and got used to it. The only issue I've ever had with it is the electric power steering went right after I bought it. Brand new. There's a defect that most dealerships know about not the one I went to. I had to take a recording on my phone and play it for them so they would even listen to me. They told me there was nothing wrong with it until I played the sound for them and then they fixed it. There's a TSB bulletin about that so if you get anything like that and your steering you'll know when you going to turn your wheel to the left or right it'll get stuck and you'll have to overcompensate which is dangerous. Other than that this has been a great car. It handles turns well. It feels like you're driving a mini Cooper. It's actually somewhat quick in sport mode. Good luck to you. I've got 46,000 mi on mine in 3 years. Other than the steering that was fixed under warranty. It's It's been great.

Thanks guys, love the channel. Had one of these for a month while our CX5 diesel was off the road. One thing you didn’t mention is the absolutely woeful low beam headlight performance. In this instance, out of sight on a dark night, means just past the end of the bonnet. You could drive past a fully fledged yowie on a dark country road with the low beams on and never know it. Even my wife, who has no interest in cars commented how poor the low beams were. Fortunately the high beam is vastly superior, which means in real terms means adequate, just! Headlight don’t really matter in the city, but in the country, good headlights are vital. You should include headlight performance, both low and high beam in all your reviews. Keep up the good work gents!

I was set on buying the CX-3 (used) here in Japan and was checking out some different trim levels and was overall very pleased until I was recommended a Honda HR-V Hybrid (called Vezel in Japan) and it honestly made the CX-3 feel pretty cramped by comparison. Honda was a little more but the extra space and better fuel economy is what really sold me. Also, I'm not a fan of these exposed (un-painted) plastic wheel arches. I know you can get certain trim levels where these are piano black or whatever but they really should come standard imo.

I think the only big issues, as you pointed out, are the cabin noise and annoying sounds over bumps but other than that it's a solid car, fun to drive which turned some heads in my case. Maybe the boot size is kind of small but that depends on how many persons you want to take on a long trip. I would like to add to the number of service recalls, one that I didn't see mention, is the fuel pump that can fail, and Mazda dealerships will change it free of charge. Had this particular issue with the car, dealership solved it, and from what I understood owners can do it preventevely before it actually fails (if it fails).

I have a 2020 sTouring, and most of what's in this video is spot on. The Pros: super engaging handling performance, with a proper set of grippy tires, it's extremely hard to break traction, it looks fantastic (subjectively best in class despite the design's age), good fuel economy I get around 8-9l/100km with primarily urban driving, heaps of safety in the sTouring variant (heads up display, rear cross-traffic alert, front/rear parking sensors, LED headlights/taillights, reverse and daytime running lights, city break assist, keyless entry, etc.), post-facelift's improved NVH puts it right on average in class, high-quality interior compared to others in the class, superb ergonomics. The Cons: with 18-inch alloys, the car will feel like it CRASHES over bumps, the paint will chip if you look at it funny, the timing gasket leak and ghost-touch on the MZD screen were both replaced under warranty, the electric parking brake doesn't disengage automatically went put into drive like most other cars with that feature, the boot is TINY, the interior is starting to feel outdated, especially the infotainment; they've made minimal changes since 2015. As a used car, the CX-3 represents exceptional value for money, and I'd recommend it to those looking for a stylish, fun, engaging, and safe subcompact.

Nice review Adam. We bought our CX-3 AWD Auto Akari in 2019. We also paid $495 for Apple CaPlay. It’s just run out of warranty withe only issue ever being the front passenger leather cushion cover continuously working loose. Very strange considering it’s my wife mainly driving it on her own. The dealership basically accused us of tampering with it and it must be our fault!!. The rear seat and boot are tiny, but as she has really only ever carried her 8kg dog in the back seat to the vets or dog park, it’s not been a problem. The AWD has been brilliant in wet weather as it kicks in really well when needed and has lowered the centre of gravity when I’ve taken it for a punt just to give it a decent run. With only 48k on it we have no reason to move it on, but if we did it would more than likely be another Mazda.

It’s relatively cheap (550€) to put the CX5 tune on it, so the power increases to 165 HP. Fuel consumption stays the same, here 6,5L/100km mixed use highway and city. And as mentioned in another post the rear seat belts are a weak point. Mazda repaired ours for free (1.000€!!) outside the warranty. Another weak point are the retractable mirror motors. Ours is a top spec and had Adaptive Cruise Control and Bose audio, which was an important reason to pick this specific example. Apple CP is around 400€ and a armrest that matches your interior is not cheap, if that’s important to you look out for it. It’s a nice car, I recommend it. But at the end of the day when the sun is shining I rather take my MX-5 ND 😀

The only issues have been moisture in the headlight at three years which Mazda replaced, the istop started working intermittently after three years, and the lack of front seat storage area. I paid $550 for the arm rest console which is very flimsy and subject to breakage. Also Mazda wanted a couple of hundred to update the Nav system but unless I am mistaken, the latest update would take it up to how the roads are in 2021/22 (?) Maybe someone can advise me on this? One reason the ride on this vehicle was somewhat harsh over poor road surfaces could be the low-profile tires, which are aftermarket and not stock. With greater sidewall on stock tires, a lot of the harshness will disappear. Just another reason why the absurd trend toward low-profile tires on non-track-oriented vehicles is such a mistake.

just booked this car... wouldn't say it's the most fun to drive for me but it does the job, and i love the interior so much compared to others in the price range. Getting the mid option one. Just noticed a slight acceleration slowness, sometimes I felt like I needed to press hard to get the car moving, unlike most other cars, even 1.5L cars don't feel this unresponsive to acceleration pedal. Dealership promised to get it checked, and I won't buy it if they dont find out the issue, because I can see it becoming a major pain in the ass and maybe even a symptom of a bigger issue. Other than that, better a mazda than a bigger nissan or mitsubishi. At least this has an actual automatic transmission.

Great review funny and informative . My wife owned one for 2 years loved the front of the car….. lack of rear seat and cargo space began too hard to deal with. Simple catch up with friends meant the front passengers very happy rear seat passengers not so. For a young person, single person and would make a great first car

Can you get a petrol manual or does the manual only comes with the diesel engine?
@grandiora6 ай бұрын
Its been a while since I've seen a cheap enough interior as to not include a centre armrest/storage bin. This was the standard for the 90's... Only in Australia would you have a Mazda cx3 as the leading CUV. Pretty much everywhere else, thats not the case. Nissan Qashqai is by far the leading CUV sold in Europe with much better interior space and equipment.

Suzuki Vitara Turbo. Like this it’s based on the Swift platform, including the Swift Sport 1.4 turbo engine. Lighter, roomier with a bigger boot, actually looks more like an SUV and dare I say more fun to drive. If you absolutely have to have a manual though, the Mazda as the Vitara only does the 1.6 NA in manual.
@MrBenHaynes Жыл бұрын
Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. The Suzuki Vitara is what the CX3 should be. Most Mazdas have sacrificed space utilisation in the quest for a sexy profile. It has worked for Mazda through sales, but not for the customer in usage. The under stressed 1.4 litre turbo in some Vitaras is just the icing on the cake.
@montyspearo Жыл бұрын
Vitara 1.6 in auto is gutless and always wants to kickdown so its doing 4000rpm, hates hills.. 1.4T auto on other hand is effortless to drive thanks to 230nm of torque at 1500rpm. For SUV quite nippy on tight windy roads.
@mattdebyl8806 Жыл бұрын
@@montyspearo yeah no doubt. The 1.6 is a bit miserable. Shame that’s the one they tested. Also shame we never got the manual 1.4T.

Hey man I really like your reviews and opinions on cars in general, but can we stray away from talking about scratchy plastics. Everyone that does car reviews in Australia is always talking about scratchy plastics. We should be talking about pricing and how cars are too overpriced here in Australia, we should also be mentioning how many kms with a full tank cars can do...cuz these figures aren't always correct. Mention for example with a full tank the car can do 600kms for example, and how much it's going to last and cost to fix major problems if they have any. Can't stress to mention where always focusing on materialistic matters. If I have to spend 30k under or over on a car, I want to know major problems that come with these overpriced brands. Cuz when I look on car sales most of these new cars are already up for sale after 50,000km and sometimes under.
@ReDriven Жыл бұрын
Such excellent and valid points Rob. We will take all of this on board. About the only thing we can’t accurately comment on is the how many kms with a full tank as every owner drives so differently in a range of various environments and scenarios. But thank you for this, we’ll slowly implement all your suggestions, I’m genuinely excited to never mention scratchy plastics again! - AK

@theairstig9164. Actually it isn't. If s more expensive vehicle prices goes down so drastically, to the point of being even with a lower category model, you gotta figure it's got known issues that justify the drop. 🤔

Honestly suprised how few major problems the CX3 has compared to the likes of the ASX for example. With the amount of musical safety overviews you guys have done i have to ask when is the Redriven album dropping? 😂 This will be another car to recommend to someone I knoe as a potential replacement for their current car. Brilliant job as always guys and as per usual have a good weekend and look forward to next week's batch of videos 👍 (and I have a feeling we'll be getting a video on the weekend too for some reason lol😂)
