@SimpleEnglishVideos4 жыл бұрын
Cintia, let us know how your students like the videos. And yes, Marmite and Vegemite are similar. Vegemite is Australian and Marmite is British. According to The Culture Trip website, aside from differences in color and texture "...Vegemite is more intensely gobsmacking than Marmite, which has a milder flavour and even a slight sweetness compared to its meatier Aussie cousin." I hope that explains things.

is getting used to +verb ing implies past tense ? or a present situation ?
@arpana7612 жыл бұрын
please explain about the tense with using be used to and get used to . In which tense we can or can't use "be used to" and In which tense we can or can't use "get used to"
@SimpleEnglishVideos2 жыл бұрын
We can say use 'be used to' in all tenses Apple technologies. For example: I am used to... I was used to... I have been used to... I will be used to... . It's the same with get used to, but remember the past form of get is got. For example, I got used to ... driving on the other side of the road for a while.

Hi, Viki, Hope you and your family are all well in this difficult time. When I watched this video today, I came up with some questions, How to form sentences in a nagtive way by using be used to doing and used to do For example: I'm used to drinking tea in the morning - negative sentence: I'm not used to drinking tea in the morning , right ? I used to drink coffee in the morning - what's the negative sentence of this one,/how to form a negative sentence of this one?? Look forward to hearing from you soon. Best Regards Annie
@SimpleEnglishVideos4 жыл бұрын
Hi Annie. Great questions! Your first sentence: Yes, that's right. Your second question. This one's really interesting. In a lot of old textbooks you'll see "I didn't use to drink coffee in the morning". Technically this is correct, but it's very infrequent. People would normally say 'I didn't drink coffee in the morning'. Hope this helps.
@mbrt56496 жыл бұрын
Can we use negative form for (Get used to ....)?
@SimpleEnglishVideos6 жыл бұрын
Yes, Mana. We can say things like "I'm not used to..." "Are you used to ...?" and "I haven't got used to..."

Hi Vicky , sorry but I didn't catch how to make the proper use of 'used to + verb' and 'be used to+gerund/noun'. Please could you come up with some examples? Thanks a lot.
@SimpleEnglishVideos9 жыл бұрын
+fabianologfatec When I lived in the UK, I used to drink tea in the morning, I used to watch British TV and I used to read paper copies of the Guardian newspaper. (Past habits) Now I live in the US, where I do things differently. But I've got used to my new life. (Grown accustomed to it) So now I'm used to drinking coffee in the mornings. I'm used to watching American TV programs and I'm used to reading the Guardian online now. Does that help?

About get used to, in present perfect tense, usually we say : i have got used to eatting rice or i have gotten used to eatting rice? Thank you again !!
@SimpleEnglishVideos10 жыл бұрын
Xiaojiao Liu Jay might ask 'Have you gotten used to Vicki's accent yet?' and I might ask 'Have you got used to Jay's accent yet?'. That's because the 3rd part of the verb is different in our two varieties. For Jay it goes, get - got - gotten. For me it goes get - got - got.

Where are you used to take a break in the middle of the day? Is it correct???
@SimpleEnglishVideos4 жыл бұрын
Hi Natalya if you are asking where someone normally takes their break, we wouldn't use "used to." We'd probably say : "Where do you usually take your break?" Now the answer might be, "Well I used to take my break in the 4th floor cafeteria, but now I go to the bar across the street." And she might add, "They only serve American beer there and I never used to drink that before, but I've gotten used to it now."
