Дякую за урок! Питання щодо Task 3: чому речення 4 та 7 позначені як неправильні?
@olhayankova18196 ай бұрын
Hey there, you’re welcome 🥰 In sentence 4: used to GO, not going - it would be past habit; or I AM used to going - this structure tells about present habit; in sentence 7: didn’t and never - can’t use two negative forms: I didn’t use to wake up OR I never used to wake up

I used to study in the Green Forest scholl. I don't any more. I used to have -a- real people to speak English with. Now I speak English with the AI, that lives in my smartphone. I used to think that the world is built more or less sensibly. I used to be a fool. And probably I still am.

It can be transformed into a limerick. Something like this: There is a man who used to study in an English school. He also used to be convinced our world was cool. But since he speaks with his smartphone And thinks his better days are gone, Methinks you will agree he’s just a fool.

I think, you can't say "a real people", because article "a" use only with singular and people- plural. And if you say "I used to be a fool", it means that now you aren't a fool, so you can't say "I still am". Instead you can use past simple "I was a fool and probably I still am"

By some reason all my replies just disappear. So. Totally agree with "a real people". It was a stupid mistake. Dunno why I made it 🙂 Speaking about "I used to be a fool". The key word here is "probably". You can get it from the context. It's like, speaking "I used to be a fool", I didn't reckon I'm a fool now. But on second thoughts, probably I still am. So I suppose in this case "used to" is justified ehough.

Hey, Alex Definitely not a fool, I’m with you on that one. Unfortunately, we all used to see the world for what it’s not - a highly-developed place where all countries strive to live in mutual respect and prosperity. Great limerick btw
