13:16 those are reamers, you drill a hole undersize and use the reamer to bring it to the exact size, they're used for very precise work.

When I moved to Japan, I shipped most of my tools there... Everything except the power tools and battery chargers because Japan is 100v. While I did buy second hand tools online, I don't think I came across one of these places. Cool video!

The Hitoki is the same a Hitachi and in the US is now called Metabo HPT. The 53,000 jpy impacts are $344 usd. In the US a Metabo HPT 1/4 impact, charger and 2 small batteries is $180

I watched an American youtuber compare an American bought makita tool and a Japanese bought makita tool, and apparently, the Japanese bought tool is built way better and performs much better also.

If it was project farm he just had different models. The Japanese one was a newer model, hence why it performed better. He's been made aware of it but he doesn't seem to care to make a sticky comment or make a note of it in the description. Japan however gets the new models before the rest of the world, and by quite the margin.

@@N1rOx I did find a test on the TD172 but he referenced the "US equivalent" XDT16, which is the previous model. The US equivalent to the TD172 (DTD172 in Europe) would have been XDT19, which wasn't released at that time, Makita tools are always released first in Japan. You can get TD173 in Japan now, you can not get that model elsewhere yet (unless they have just released it and I've missed it). The next model will generally be better than the previous model. It would be equivalent to comparing a Milwaukee Gen 3 to a Gen 4 and saying the Gen 4 was better than the Gen 3 because it was made in the US (example), it was better because it was a newer model. The difference to Project Farm is that that Torque Test Channel acknowledges they are not the same model but a new and an old model in the pinned comment, something Project Farm, last time I checked, has refused to do.

I would be in there every week spending my paycheck. Old school Makita stuff that is still made in Japan, oof. Most of the stuff we get here is from China now. I have to special order the good stuff from Japan sometimes cause they just last longer. But that is the nature of the beast, to produce stuff for cheaper to get more sales now. Everything is plastic parts now also, cheaper and lighter is not always better. Look for the pink Makita cordless stuff 👀

Bcs Makita corporation build their own factories and choose to manufacture in china, some are manufactured by third party pay less for for cheaper parts but pass those tools in quality control inspections and if they are failed those ends up in resale markets too.

The PP200D is the BIG D Hole Puncher. Can punch 8mm thick steel plates. $800 is a steal compared to over $3k after tax for a new one, used one are around $1,300.

13:11 its a reamer, it can be used on a mill, or a very accurate drill press it is to size a hole and make it round most holes are slightly egg shaped from a drill bit just the way they cut but if your making precession parts you need a remer to stay in tolerance. These deffently should not be stored loose in a box it will dull them also. They should be stored in a cardboard tube. Or plastic tube. You can also use them on a lathe.

Good deals there. That big 1/2” makita impact for $150 is a great buy (and it looked almost new). I got the same one new in aus for $440 delivered n I thought that was a decent deal! 👍🍻🎯🇦🇺 Also the massive makita for ¥98000 was a concrete mesh / Steel cutter

Steal on the bandsaw blades. You asked about prices in the states. All the corded tools and hand tools and bits etc are great deals. I want those wood working tools. Battery Makita stuff, the prices are like 15%-40% off. But no warranty A lot of the makita prices are hard to judge because makita has so many tools that look exactly the same but like one driver will submersible or for use around High voltage or have a much better motor and be more expensive. Also we in the US get a much smaller selection of Makita tools than everywhere else and the JDM tools are made to Slightly higher standard. Example that black camo drywall driver I don't think is available at all in the US except through

We used to have a second hand shop. Owner heavily inflated the prices to the point he was charging new prices for used goods. I wouldn’t mind buying tools at that price. Save me a lot of money.

We use the big socket’s building infrastructure, large diameter pipe lines and valves, but a 24mm, fits a M16 bolts which is standard size bolts on 300 mm pipes. My look big to stuff you need to work on cars, but I have 55 and 60mm flogging spanners….look up what they look like.

Jis screwdriver is nice. That japanese industrial standard it's actually different than a regular Phillips in the USA. I ain't had any more problems getting Honda rotors off since I found out what a #3 jis vessel impacta screwdriver or bit does!

I believe the Makita and Hikoki tools in Japan are Japanese made, whereas the overseas markets are supplied by their Chinese factories. The pricing on the battery tools didn't seem to be much different than what I'd pay in Melbourne.

The best thing for scrubbing tyres is an old wheel balancer just hook the motor up to constant power and use a wood lathe tool just like a wood lathe you will have to make an adjusable tool stand

Milwaukee have good warranty only in usa.. in the rest of the world is only 1 year which suck compared to the rest of the brands with at least 2/3 years warranty. They cost more and honestly yes they are more powerfull but they luck in reliability. Plus when they broke u have to buy the whole assembly for replace just one peace that broke. Makita, bosch, metabo, hikoki are on another level for spare parts.

95% makita tools bought in japan are better than the ones they export. used tools pricing on ebay is ridiculous imo, might as well buy new in most cases except for the ones that gets sold from "home depot return pallets". the pricing is relatively high at least compared to what i have access to. these shops are great if you need a random tool that you will only use once or twice then gets stored away/trashed though. either way looks like i should visit one of these stores next time when i go to japan. thanks!

Are batteries still that cheap? Where I live all batteries are two times the price compared to year or two ago. I got brand new Makita 18v 5Ah battery for 45€ with discount, normal price was 60€ but now same battery is 110€.

How do those prices compare to the same tools when new and with warranties? I can't help but think that some of the power tools seemed expensive. Since the shop is providing some warranty, I guess all the tools work properly.
