Dave, According to information provided by the wife who is a College science teacher, the knees are in fact used to supply air to the tree. They also aid in making the tree stable.

I live in south Florida, and there are lots of these trees by our cabin. They have one of the best smelling smokes while burning out of any wood I know. Love your vids, good job.

One handy thing I've noted with Cyprus trees is that their bark makes AWESOME tinder, even when in the middle of a deluge. Burns hot and ignites easy with a ferro rod.

Thanks for the vids Dave, I was starting to get the jitters w/o my fix of ur videos. Definitely dig the new tune Bad Horse made for ya. Busted out the space blanket & some hot-wets out in the backyard last night with my son. Good times- we both have learned so much from you!

Cypress is one of the most (if not the most) naturally water, insect, and rot resistant woods on earth. When Florida and other southern states were first settled it was extremely popular for roofing. And Noah's ark is said to have been built primarily of cypress as well. It also is extremely resistant to splintering, cracking, and warping. (sorry i'm a tree geek a little) lol

Awesome video Dave! Cyprus isn't too prevalent where I live, mainly pines. Any news you can release on Dual Survival Season 3?

@wildernessoutfitters Are the trees covered in the DVD the same as the ones on KZbin (or going to be on KZbin)? Also, are you going to get into the medicinal spices more? Really loved that! These are great videos, keep 'em coming. Had an idea: If you were to make sugar from the Maple tree, could you use that to keep a wound from getting infected (like with regular sugar)? Maybe you could use brown sugar, as well?

Dave you mentioned using the water where cypress is found for an antiseptic. Would that include swamps? If so, what about parasites and such in the water affecting the wound or ingesting some when using as mouth rinse? Thanks for the education!

@cheesestr4wz Are you ready? I'm in Williamsburg VA and grew it in VA clay as dry as dust. Planted it as a 12" shoot. Kept the water hose on it for a couple of years. The neighbors dog actually broke the top off year 3 so I cut down to the next big branch and it straightened to form a new peak. It's my miracle tree and produces lots of cones. I believe knees are less in dry areas. There are actually quite a few in this area but usually in waterways.

In otherwords, do the DVD's contain differing inforamation and should I buy both to obtain the most knowledge or is one of more value than the other? Thanks, great info about the Cypress tree today.

@Eldwinn I find what you said in your comment to be ridiculous as I had a 35 y/o male patient that had never smoked cigarettes but did smoke marijuana & his lungs were just full of cancer tumors from it. He died young because of it. So although it may have some medicinal attributes in limited doses, it is not a "tree of life" by any means.
