In French, the "s" is pronounced "z" when there is a "a"/"e"/"i"/"o"/"u"/"y" in frond and behind the "s", and if it's the case and you want an "s" sound, you write 2 "s" For example : - Danse (dance) is pronounced "s" -Cousin (cousin) is pronounced "z" -Coussin (pillow) is pronounced "s" Knowing that sometimes, there is one "s" and not pronounced "z" but "s" like in "tournesol" (sunflower) Yeah my language is strange

There's actually a method to the madness in French. It's wacky but the pronunciations are consistent in French. Similarly in German- "ei" always sounds like "eye". Give me any new word in either of these languages and I'm sure I can pronounce it. It's only English that's completely bonkers, there's just no rules that are consistent across one word to the next. Take my name for example, sure it's mispronounced by a native speaker of any of the three languages, but in Germany, I heard almost everyone pronounce my name in the same way, because how it's read in German has no ambiguity, but when I was in the USA, my name was pronounced every which way possible with the light 2 vowels present 🤣🤣🤣😭.

Yes, almost all european alphabets, the C, Q and K merged Because our alphabets came from phoenician, and in phoenician these three letters are totally different. Biblical hebrew, aramaic and arabic still have the distinction. Q (qof) is made from the throat. K (kaf) is our normal K/C And C was originally a duplication of Gimel (letter G). They also have Khaf (which makes a harsh kh sound, like if you were cleaning your throat), and Het (sounds like a long H)

At least they sound the same sound every time. Also they don't actually make the same sound just the sounds they make are not separately exists in other languages. As long as the alphabet fits to your language it makes a lot of sense. But as a Turk who knows a little Arabic, I'm truly happy that we stop using the Arabic alphabet a century ago because some of those letters definitely not exist in Turkish and some of the sounds in Turkish language definitely not exist in Arabic alphabet. Arabic alphabet fits well to Arabic language and Turkish alphabet introduced by Ataturk fits well to Turkish language. I don't know well about the situation of Persian though.

@@Warprein in Persian we use the Arabic alphabet with 4 extra letters that Arabic doesn’t have sounds for. However while the ‘z’ s and ‘s’ s etc. have different sounds in Arabic, those nuances are mostly ignored by Persian speakers nowadays.

@@Warprein Persian and Arabic have almost the same alphabet , but most letters are pronounced differently in each language . In Persian there is absolutely no different way to pronounce the 4 "z" and 3 "s" sounding letters .
