cause this nonsense is from the hetero fantasy about men's love. A culture living still in censorship wants the writers to bring up a "normal" love, related to man/woman. Also in western countries the education about same sex language is not really understood. of course they are my man/my boyfriend/my husband, no feminism wanted. Equal to women they never would their lover call husband, its a hetero idea. Unfortunately with the false scripted language thr audience took and take it as real and use it in comments and even actors adoration. Often they call the boyish or softer actor "princess", "sassy" , "wifey" or his "baby girl" believing that one must be a kind of female substitute. This is only used in transgender relationship and only if the transwoman wants to be called as female person. More confusing is the discussion who is top/bottom. This is a term from SM games where the master/servant play takes place for a session. Terrible for the BL world also this misunderstood terms for a s-prefered practice, were drifting into BL, neither writers nor directors, nor production dare to educate the audience - may be of fear to take their excitement away. Its still a looooong way for the modern times although Thailand has the same sex marriage law. It will need much more open mind education in scripts and performance from the censored producers to the international audience.
