It's a shame that Lingyi/Shiyi had to go to such lengths to expose her because the GM refused to see how evil she truly was/she continued to protect her after every mishap. I'm so glad that Lingyi exposed her dirty deeds with the dog because his mother wouldn't entertain the fact that Lianfang deliberately made his son sick. At this point the GM shouldn't be allowed to govern her family because she's not a good judge of character.

Everyone make mistakes.. even Shiyi got tricked by her maid again and again.. she thought she will change for better.. but whenever a small reason comes up, she will betray her.. until last moment..

@@savithamoorthy67 true but the GM mistakes nearly destroyed her family because she was convinced that Shiyi's low birth status wasn't good enough for her precious son. She was convinced that Shiyi would destroy her family. She didn't even consider that Lianfang was evil even when the evidence was right in front of her face. When Shiyi realized that Lianfang killed her sister she knew that she had to have irrefutable evidence in order to get justice. When her grandson was poisoned by the dog she told everyone that she would never believe that Lianfang was involved because she knew her. She even stopped the doctor from telling everyone about his findings. GM mistakes were do to her biases regarding status and she nearly destroyed her own family because of it. I agree everyone makes mistakes but the GM deliberately chose to cover for Lianfang despite the fact that she knew the truth and made the choice to ignore it. Shiyi trusted Amber because she knew that everything she did was because she was forced to by Madam Luo. They blackmailed her with the fate of her sister so it was understandable that Shiyi would forgive her. Amber's final betrayal done out of stupidity. There was no way for Shiyi to guard against her or to even know what was going on. Shiyi didn't know that Amber's sister had died. She was secretly trying to find her. I was glad that Lingyi refused to let her stay in the Xu family.

Her punishment is light compare to her crimes are very serious especially when she’s murder a person. Would be death sentence instead becoming a nun. 😒

It was to preserve the Xu family reputation from being implicated by Lianfang's actions. She was a legitimate daughter who became a concubine only to find out that she deliberately killed his late wife and unborn child. As a high official marrying such a woman would've brought into question his ability to lead his men into battle. Although his mother forced him to marrying Lianfang.. his judgment in this matter would negatively impact his character. It would've given the Ou family the ammunition they needed to ruin his political career. She definitely deserved a harsher punishment.
Imagine hurting an innocent child., a child fathered by the man you claim to love, simply to make the woman you're trying to compete with fall.... "He who digs up a pit to harm another... will surely fall in it"

So true... she didn't know the first thing about love. It was her obsession with him that claimed the lives of two innocent people and nearly claimed the life of Zhun as well. If Shiyi hadn't stepped in when she did Zhun would've continued to suffer at her hands. She was evil

And they didn't seem to stress her actions towards Shin in this final part. She put him through a lot of suffering and could have, would have killed him if she hadn't been stopped, and she did it while she was taking care of him. She's a seriously swappable villain. And I think the actress does a great job, especially with her smug and pouty evil.

@@greenlife9415 yes, she was a danger to him. When the GM put her in charge of his care it gave her the opening she needed to make him sick. I don't think she was trying to kill him. She wanted Lingyi to look at her differently/she thought if he saw her taking care of his son in a loving manner it would change his opinion about her. She wasn't expecting Shiyi to come in and save the day. When Lingyi put Shiyi in charge of his care...Lianfang's plan went up in smoke so she made him sick again. This time she convinced the GM that Shiyi was a danger to Zhun. She wanted the GM to put her back in charge. She didn't bank on Shiyi to turn the tables on her/finding the direct cause of Zhun's illness. She was evil....but I agree the actress did a great job.
