OK, so, braided brake lines, uprated pads, replacement tyres.......... Total cost £500?? 2 grand saving! Bonus! ....aanndd, you don't need to replace the rear shock, which a lot of CRF owners have needed to do (apparently), as the original isn't up to scratch. Personally, I think it's a great bike, for the price. Well done Kate, unbiased, honest review. Top job!

Dear Kate. One of your true strengths as a reviewer is that you accept every bike as it is and simply have fun with that as a starting point. No high brow hoity toity (Also see my comment on the printed press).

The engine is based on the Kawasaki KLX 300 built under license, the fuel light comes on around 170 miles, not bad for 11 litres. Front pads do take a while to bed in so a bit weak to start with if the bike is very new. You should take it off road, you will be surprised how much fun it is.

On what basis do you say that it has the KlX 300 licencet engine?

Great review Kate I’ve owned mine for 4 months now and I love it. Fitted a set of Michelin trackers and it’s turned it into a superb TET bike. A good value capable trail bike that’s capable of taking a bit of luggage and doing a bit of touring . What’s not to like 👍

Hi l bought my Voge 300 rally last year from Bolton kawasaki September 2023, for £3,799 on the road, l live in Blackpool and have enjoyed riding the bike it makes me smile with the pops going through the country lanes etc, l bought a lovely sports exhaust for it last December being a R72 full exhaust system from Argentina under £200...and sounds or some, lve owned quite a few bikes over the past 40 years, l find this one a great stylish bike very comfortable to ride cheap to run l enjoy riding it, l find it a better bike than the Honda CRF as it looks and feels very cheap the suspension isn't as good or the frame, l don't like the rear tail light unit it's ugly the Honda doesn't look as good as my Voge as mine feels more solid with the chassis you get a lot of nice looking extras as crash bars, a lovely looking tail tidy, ABS, hand protectors a nice screen... Generally l find it a better stylish looking bike than the Crfs plus your saving £2,500, I'd recommend taking a voge 300 rally out for a test ride you won't be disappointed😅..

Hi.Test rode the CRF and the Voge the same day.CRF knees on the ground,Voge feet on the ground. The extra,s on the Voge that come with it are great. To bring the CRF in line would be maybe another £3-5 hundred pounds add another shock and well the end price is very much something i took into account, plus I am not old enough for a Honda LOL.Bought my voge 4 months ago and will say it is a very honest bike,Would rather it came with a stainless exhaust or alloy or carbon,As i feel the exhaust will be the first thing to let me down i believe its mild steel or similar.Great vid and very well put together.

I only ever use the front brake on my Voge and it’s fine. People say they want a front brake with more bite but as I bought the Voge to be ridden mainly off-road the gentle front brake and great rear brake (with switchable ABS) as backup is a huge positive.

I've got mine for a couple of months now and it's a great bike, even not considering the price. The only "necessary" upgrade was a pair of aftermarket brake pads in the front. I don't think the head lights are sufficient though (2x 35 Chinese Watts), but I'll solve that later. The tyres are a surprise on road! Very confidence inspiring. Thicker and thinner seats are available (Uncle Wang's Shop). Got myself a thicker one. Works well enough.

I've been looking at one of these. I think the people that criticise it compare it to the Honda to much. The bike will take you the same places at the same speed. Sure it doesn't have the refinement as the Honda but if your taking it off road and you are fairly new to off road riding the chances are your going to drop it sooner rather that later. The main issue I have with the Voge is the ignitions barrel. Its open. Some little scroat only has to pull the wires off the back and bypass the ignition and your bikes gone. I've never looked at a Honda CF but the newer bikes I have been looking at the quality has dropped from what it was 10-15 years ago and the same could be said about Chinese bike but the quality has gone the other way and got a lot better. The thing I've been considering is the dealer network and avalibitly of parts. Once this gets established by "word of mouth" I think the big brands will be in trouble. You are right in what you are saying.

Interesting you picked up on the brakes. I test rode one before Christmas and had to perform a almost emergency stop - and just didn’t. Hit the brakes at 30mph and just carried on. (I’m 20 stone so it’s a lot of combined mass to stop) The rest of it was great but I’d be wanting more oomph on that front brake…

That's a lot of bike for £4k! Throw some good rubber at it and I'd guess its back road playfulness would be much better. Chinese made bikes have come along way, I've owned a CFMoto for 4 yrs now and its never skipped a beat, no corrosion, give em some love and they last as long as any of the major brands. Great Vid as always Kate. I'm amazed by the sound quality of your Ride along vids, speech to wind noise ratio is always so good.

It would be interesting to compare it to the CRF. I actually still own a 2015 CRF250M which is absolutely sublime for city riding, very light and flickable with it’s 17” front. I do hope Honda gives us a 300cc version now, preferably using the engine off the CB300 which seems to make a bit more power. I also own a 2024 Triumph Street Triple RS which is so sweet handling and fast but I still love to go out on the CRF, especially when it’s raining and have the exploring mindset.

If it’s all for is taking out a few weekends a year for bouncing about on for fun in the dirt without huge cost/fear of damage etc, I’d say it looks like a bit of a winner… £4K, you can have a whole ‘bike or spend the same money on a full ‘system for your Ducati etc. pays ya money and takes ya choice. Kate Great review! The bike seems to have some nice features but if I wanted a bike like that I would go with one of the mainstream Japanese brands personally. I am Leary of anything Chinese for maintenance support. That would raise a big red flag for me. Here in the States that would be a "NOPE". I'm sure the bike will still be great with someone with budget restraints. Fantastic video as usual Lady! I love this channel. Ride SAFE and BE safe Lady! 👍👍

Great video! Glad you enjoyed it. I think it's easy to speculate why MCN were way off the mark with their review- either Honda's UK marketing department paid them to write it or they never actually sat on one at all and wrote it from the office eating doughnuts 😂 The front brake does get better once it is bedded in but makes the most sense off road where it is progressive and friendly so you don't lock up. The tyres are actually really good wet or dry once you tweak the pressures and even for gravel riding off road. And will last a CRAZY long time (Nathan was predicting 12000+ miles I believe). But a set of Michelin Trackers makes it more capable for British mud., There are a few good ADV vids out there showing how to do rolling mounts from one side and even at 6', that's how I choose to get on and off the Voge now (because you look super cool at petrol stations 🤣) Looking forward to seeing you make more Voge Rally conent 😀

Voge/lonchin make the 750/850/900 BMW engines so the engine should be pretty reliable. Voge are bringing a 900 out which looks very similar to the BMW 900GS so it wouldnt suprise me that they are either making the GS's as a whole package or will be making it in the not to distance future.

Hi Kate, I really like the way that bike looks, it’s so much better looking than a CRF. I love the way you’re not fazed by the seat height and also appreciate what great value for money it is in comparison to the competition. I wonder what it would ride like with some decent tyres on it, I’ll bet it will make all the difference both on and off road. Do you know if it’s supposed to have a new piston every 100 hours like my KTM EXCF 350, which is ridiculous! Look forward to seeing you get it muddy! x

I've driven both and I like the Voge better than the Honda. Not just because of the price, but also because it has more backbone. It offers a lot more in terms of standard equipment, which you have to pay a lot for with the Honda. Actual 2024 Model has already the Fuel indicator included on the dashboard wich was a pain in behind just with indication light.

Pretty good Kate. Like your review. I think you gonna have to ride the crf. That front wheel is normal for that type of bike. As in the feel. It’s the same in the Africa twin with some tyres. But the suspension as you said. Could be better than the crf . The extras that come with the bike. And the foot pegs. So yeah I think the price is excellent for the bike. Or the bike is excellent for the price…. The Honda crf 300L I was more interested in. I only sat in that and thought what ???? 😳 So yes if you can.. please do review it 👍 Dave P

Some advice as I have been riding since 1982. Do not follow to close. Do not assume everything will be as it should. If the car in front of you should be required to slow dramatically or stop suddenly for an emergency situation you will be involved, and it may not be a good ending for you. Please give yourself some space as someday you certainly will need it.

Try the new Royal Enfield 450’Himalayan which is a totally new bike. The Honda CRF 300 Rally is high but its soft suspension sags quite a bit. You could easily handle the previous Himalayan which has a low seat and a modest 400cc motor. Enjoy the ride. This voge is not available in the states.

If it proves even half reliable at that price and doesn’t rot to dust before it’s first MOT I reckon the £4000 price tag might tempt a few people. From watching your review I’m not convinced it’s really any worse than the Honda CRF in terms of what it does (and the suspension may actually be better), it’s just a question of build quality. If one of the demo bikes really has done 7k without issue then things get interesting, especially given the cost of the Honda (and north of £6000 is a lot of money for a small single cylinder bike).

Good braking always means to also use the rear brake, ABS or not! So as long as the combined braking power is sufficient….

Hi Kate, I don't see the Honda as a direct competitor. The Honda, according to your price figures is 62.5% more money. That puts it into a very different class. Maybe a more fair competitor is the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411. Similar price, and also has off road possibilities. My feeling is that I wouldn't buy either. My legs are too short for the Voge. And the Himalayan 411 is lacking in power. I rather fancy the new Triumph Speed 400.For the moment though, I will stick with my 36 year old BMW K75.

Hi Kate I think it maybe ok for the money but I’d buy the Honda because it’s a Honda but I’d buy the 450 crf but they are all to high for me reason why I got rid of the ktm’s I’m only 28” leg I had so much trouble getting on the ktm’s that’s why I gave up with adv bikes and bought a new triumph rocket and I’m in love with that and your demo on the rocket started me looking at them they are amazing great video Kate ride safe take care 👍

I’ve got a bigger Honda and over the years Honda has always been my first choice but in this case I bought the Voge and not only because it was great value, in many important areas, most obviously the suspension the Voge is superior. Is comparing a Rocket 3 to a Voge any use at all? The CRF450 is not a simple option, it isn’t sold as a road based bike and has service intervals that make it impractical as an everyday bike.

@@davidmatthews3093 hi David I used the rocke as to explain the difference between the two bikes going from Ktm adv to the rocket and I know the 450 is more off road orientated but that’s what I would buy I wouldn’t worry about the service as that isn’t a problem and by spending a bit of money you can turn it into a good touring / adventure bike and green lane riding that again is still a very high bike but much lighter

Thanks for the review Kate, you’re probably not used to trail bike brakes with the smaller disc up front, so a little more effort is needed. At least Voge put a fork spring in each fork leg, which is more than Honda give you for the extra £2.5k, you have to spend another £1500 on the crf300 suspension to make it competent. I’ll be off the KD’s for a try myself

Hi there Kate, I'm thinking of buying one of these, so could you help me please? When going up through the 'box, what is your average change point ? 5000 rpm, 6, 7? How high do you need to go, to 'make progress'. How many miles on the bike you rode ? When I bought my Himalayan 411 (new) the engine was tight but now at 10,000+ kms she really has free'd off a lot.

@wylyecoyote Hi, I wondered where you are getting your information from about the Voge. After reading your comment I went through the manual carefully and can’t find any mention to the piston needing replacing every 100 hrs. There is a very detailed service list and this doesn’t appear on it and there is no reference any where else in the manual. Be great if you could back this claim up as this seems a really important point. Cheers.

Hey Matt, I think Coyote was just asking IF it needed to have a new piston every 100 hrs like the KTM. But the KTM is a competition bike and its usage based on hrs not miles. Not the same class of bike as the Voge which will work on normal service intervals like any other road going bike. I hope this helps :)

As far as the press goes a general remark: I read a lot of German motorcycle magazines. The trend seems to be that grumpy old men keep slagging off everything new. And I am then talking about people from my own generation! As far as the English press goes: Weren’t they laughing their heads off about the Japanese while the English motorcycle industry died? Industry embedded journalists often make for bad reading. …. And now back to the fun stuff!

I’m old enough to remember 1960s Japanese motorcycles and they had some pretty serious issues. Their handling, tyres and brakes were all weak but the motors seem bulletproof. In a very short period of time the manufacturers improved their bikes and adapted them for th3 European market. The rest is history. The Voge doesn’t resemble those early Japanese bikes at all, it’s already fit and ready for Europe.

@@davidmatthews3093 Hm, Handling, brakes, tires. Aren’t these aspects Kate is criticizing here as well? Still here tone is respectful. My comments are about the prevailing mindset of many a journalist. Does it make sense to make a 300 cc bike which will hardly ever be used off road so big? Hardly. But she is willing to see its good sides, particularly within the context of what the bike costs.

The brakes look a bit concerning - wondering if it's just a case of the pads needing wearing in from new? What are the tyres like that come with it? Are they any good?
@kdmotorcycles9530

The brakes will get better over time as the bike didn't have a lot of miles on it. The other side of the coin is due to the bike being somewhat off road biased the braking is designed to be less urgent so to speak. Softer breaking benefits off road riding.
