I ride one of these months ago, in France. Last September I took my 2021 CB500X to the dealer that I had just ordered a Voge 300 Rally from to have a new rear tyre fitted and he asked it I wanted to test the DS525X while he was changing the tyre. I did so I did. It was a really good motorcycle to ride and the standard equipment on it was amazing given the price. It has several features that my Honda does not and overall I couldn’t fault it. To ride it was very like the 500X but having less than 10km on the clock I couldn’t really make any performance comparisons. Riding the bike is a good place to be, high up and comfortable. I would certainly recommend anyone looking for a lower middleweight adventure bike to consider one. Having ridden for about 45 minutes on back roads with a bit of off-road thrown in I returned to pick up my Honda. I then rode home, an hour’s ride. Did I wish that I had left with a brand new Voge DS525X instead of my 20,000km Honda? Did I wish that I was riding that fully loaded attractively styled new bike? Would I be returning soon to order one? Well, actually, no. The Voge was great but at the end of the day the Honda has that little something that makes it so special to me. It felt just that little bit better to me. That the Voge came that close is in itself a compliment. Many people don’t believe me but the 500X is the best bike I’ve ever owned. It’s not the fastest, it’s certainly not the most expensive nor one that’s loaded with gadgets or bling, it just does the job that I want from my touring motorcycle to do. It carries me and my camping gear to everywhere I want to go in comfort and safety. It handles beautifully and and is 100% reliable, and since trading in the Pan European that I’d owned for nine years my annual mileage has doubled. For me it’s a better touring bike than a Pan European and that says it all. That Voge have come so close to making a bike that’s equally good says a huge amount about the DS525X too. If only the anti Chinese crew would allow their prejudices to let them try one they might start to change their mind. PS I didn’t mention fuel economy… If the DS525X comes close to the 500X on that score then Voge might really have (another) winner on their hands.
@bestyapper10 ай бұрын
Great summary. I'm riding CB500X as well. I owned Benelli BN302 3 years ago and it was a nightmarishly unreliable bike. If Voge can beat Honda CB500X's reliability (Which is probably unrealistic since no other brands can do that) then sure I'll buy one but after 3 years of Chinese brand bike ownership, unless I get paid to ride one, I would never purchase one especially since I'm already riding world's best ADV bike.

The two things that bother me about Chinese bikes are: 1. Quality. This isn't prejudice: I've heard bad things about even quite recent ones from dealer mechanics who have to work on them day in, day out. 2. Long-term support. Chinese brands and importers seem to come and go with the seasons. I've had the experience of buying a rare bike then having the only dealer within a 40 mile radius drop the brand before, and it's a royal PITA. I bought an Aprilia when the _importer_ was in my home town, which should have guaranteed some security, but a couple of years later they buggered off to Scotland and all the local bike shops suddenly stopped being dealers.

@@MrHws5mp On point 1... KTM have many mechanics and plenty more users bemoaning the fact that the crankshaft issue hasn't been solved for years and years. Yet people still buy/love them. Reliability for me is why I love Honda (and assume most other Japanese bikes are up there). But anything else is equally risky in my mind - especially when we keep seeing KTM issues.

I've had this bike's predecessor, the Voge 500DS, for a year now after a few years with an old 955i Speedtona. It's my only vehicle (until my old Thruxton 900 is restored) so it gets daily use in all weather. As far as reliability goes it's not given me any problems worth writing a postcard about, and just like the new 525DSX it's a sweet-handling machine and the front end gives shedloads of feedback; the engine is great, too, and with 20,000 km on the clock it's starting to come into its own (incidentally, Loncin make the engine for the Honda CB500X which is practically identical). I use it for everything from commuting into Barcelona to riding the local twisties and I even use it to guide motorcycle tours. I'll be borrowing a 525DSX when I take my 500 in for its next service, but the Voge I'm really looking forward to is the upcoming 900DSX.

Looks a great bike for that money Kate and you seemed very happy with it. The only elephants in the room are perceived reliability, which you mentioned and let's not forget depreciation. The Honda NX500 is obviously more expensive but its a Honda so servicing, durability and dealers all over the country are a given. Second hand values reflect desirability something the Chinese have yet to have.

The VOGE dealer network is actually quite big already it's just not as visible as Honda per say as they don't have big flash solus dealers. You are right with values but it is all relative. Though I do think that the whole future value thing does take too much space in people's thought patterns as if you're buying a bike based on its future value and not the value it'll give you during ownership you might be buying the wrong bike... Just a personal opinion. Chris 💪

Hi Kate. I owned a Benelli TRK502 for three years. I did 24000 miles on it and absolutely loved every mile on that bike. Recently owned CFMoto 800MT which I bought a year ago. For 11 months I did on it over 11K miles and would happily do more if I hadn't had an accident on it. Unfortunately, Insurance company determine it as kat B. On my experience with made in China bikes I can say they are reliable machines. CFMoto 800 also has full pack of gizmos and you get a lot of bike for the money. Now , while I'm recovering after my accident , I'm looking for a new bike and it will be another Chinese machine. I like the presence of this VOUGE and I really consider as my new bike. Thank you for your great and informative review . On the other note, I watched your video and love that small road through the hills and I couldn't see any road sign . Do you mind me to ask where is it this road? Thanks.

Thats an honest review that deals with the emergent Chinese motorbike issue in a fair manner. Loncin (under contract from Rotax)made the engine for my 2007 BMW 650 Xcountry. It has ridden 70,000km without protest, I easily get 30km/litre (3.7lt/100km) at an easy pace. Some of these bikes have ridden up to 200,000km, so that is testament to the build in general and specifically to Loncin's ability to build quality. The final truth is, that we are all riding Chinese bikes in some form or other, whether we know it or not. I've subscribed, after enjoying the refreshing manner that you do your work and the passion for riding that you demonstrate. Cheers from Holland.

I have owned chinese bikes and have experienced reliability and no problem. I am seriously considering this one having searched in vain for the earlier model 500 . I was impressed by seeing one which covered many miles across europe with the Mindful Motorcyclist. Currently ride a BMW RT 1150 and a Himalayan and this would cover my needs which is currently meaning two bikes. Voge seems very good quality and the company make engines for other mainstream manufacturers. The Chinese bike argument is the same as the Japanese argument which I heard in the early 1970's. Hi Kate , great review as usual , so much so that I went straight down to the local dealer in Poole and had a look at this actual bike when Mark Pulling brought it back after his review , equally as complimentary. Having seen your review and Mark's I can vouch for the feel and build quality that you both talk about. Knowing that Loncin make some of the BMW engines and considering the other components they put on the DS 525 , I went ahead and ordered one in the blue and with the top box and pannier package. I've had a Chinese bike for over two years now , the Zontes ZT 125 U1 , and it also has that finish and recognised components such as Bosch fuel injection and Bosch ABS. In that time it hasn't missed a beat and been great for up to 120 mile day trips as well as local journeys . The big thing for me , the same as you, is the Voge seat height , a big bike without the weight and height of many others . I've already been in touch with Speedo Angels to ask them to gear up for the anti-glare screen protector for this new bike coming in. There are many reviews of this bike on You Tube as it was launched in 2023 in Europe , many good reviews . The only other real negative is the chain quality where they recommend replacing it with a Gold DID XV3 114T. I can't wait to get mine , coming in to dealers in April/May , Suez Canal disturbances allowing. I will update once received and tested. Keep up the great reviews girl and thanks for the insight. Paul. 🥰

Looks like a small bike. She's 5'4 and bike looks ok on 4:10. What more if taller?

Great review and nice bike. But it’s a pity you will be lucky to get a Xmas hamper when you trade in .

It's all relative when it comes to values, that's the thing. You buy a bike for double the money, you will get a bit more back. It's all percentages which all work out roughly the same. If the bikes become ridiculously popular as exceed sales expectations the used values will hold.

Will be interested to see your comparison if you can get hold of the CF Moto 450MT. That one looks to be more off road focused...

What it`s missing are not to be found on some other bigger more expensive bikes or are costly extras on the competition. I was impressed watching Mark Pullings review yesterday, glad this is gonna get the air time. It's certainly one to consider. Crackin vid..👍🏍️👍 nice one

Mmmm,,, 🤔, looks good, I definitely think it should come with heated grips. Maybe the cruise n quick shifter, possible optional extras? centre stand as standard spot on. It's definitely worth a look at. Great vlog Kate. Take care, stay safe 🏍 👌 👍

Looks excellent value for money and I for 1 will be buying. A shame about no cruise control personally I would sooner that than traction control. Again personally for carrying soft luggage touring it would be preferable for the silencer to be down low under the frame like the CFMOTO.

Chinese seem to have nailed it with the mid size bikes cf moto voge and benelli all are great value for money. Would be interested to see what you make of the benelli trk 702x

Great review kate I think it stacks up well against my F650gs twin for the price. OK that is a 2012 bike but its a BMW so not cheap and I have had to uprate the suspension and wheels to make it good. It's not my only bike so don't use it for everything. (oxford heated grips pretty cheap to fit).

Your BMW will have a Chinese engine so you’re half converted.

What kind of network and support will they have? Years ago, I bought a Quad from my local dealer who was selling Din Li quads at outrageously low prices. After about a year, I needed rings and some seals, it was impossible to find parts for, even from my local dealer who was an authorized dealer for the manufacturer. In the end, it was retired and I bought a Suzuki quad.
@kdmotorcycles95309 ай бұрын
They are being imported and distributed by the biggest motorcycle group in the UK with 16 dealers of their own plus the 100s of dealers that are stocking VOGE across the UK so network etc is already in place
@Richard-pe4cx9 ай бұрын
maybe value for the money rather than budget you're spot on with the price of new bikes cars and second hand prices if voge can do this why is the honda 750 transalp so much more expensive and that would be for the base model quite impressive bike food for thought thanks .
@michaeljameslawrence29656 ай бұрын
amazing review. what information you want for a decision. You make the bikes look good which is most important. I had an Aura 125 by Lexmoto great little bike however the dealership networks let these bikes down as they do not know how to work with them and often cause them damage without the skill to rectify them. I had to find Lexmotos manufacturer to ask them for help with my bikes, my Aurs was made by Longia the new Nexus was by a company called Taro motorcycles and Lexmoto seem to have a new partner every year, my main gripe is they drop models quickly and have no after sales support or service from the dealerships unlike the more established brand despite chinese motorcycle parts online having parts which puts me off these bikes now.

Good review Kate 👍 You're right about heated grips, far more useful than "Nightrider" indicators. But Triumph took the (standard equipment) heated grips off the T120 and gave us CC instead - clearly pandering to the North American market 🙄. It doesn't look like the Voge has RBW throttle though, so implementation of CC on this bike would've been technically tricky?
@UsernameKate7 ай бұрын
Haha but it wouldn't be tricky if it has ride by wire throttle. I reckon they go hand in hand so that's why I didn't mention it specifically 😊

smashing review of a smashing bike, Voge coming as hard as the other Chinese manufacturers, good news for the bikers world
@Honda-world10 ай бұрын
Hi Kate, Like the vlog do think the bike is trying to disguise itself as some think else hence why it has only put a little badge Voge on the side. I do get it that it is not in full production here. Also worry about the electrical side of Chinese bikes as they are the worlds worst. But on the good points it is about time some one has lowered the seat marginally for us short arse riders I'm 29" leg also. Love adventure bikes just not the heights, shit should of been a poet. Love the varying topics that you get up to and I think that is what makes you very popular and your a northener as well 😂👍
