You can indicate but you still need to make sure it is clear before you move over. Mirror, signal, manoeuvre, not signal mirror manoeuvre however the man saw me and acted accordingly like a good driver. Point is, you have to be ready for anything.

Kate - did you know Way back in the old days the biggest and best BMW bike dealer in the NW was "Doug Hacking" located on Blackburn Rd, Bolton. Superb shop in every way, they unfortunately lost their concession as BMW changed the way it sold bikes in the late 1990s. They relocated to a bigger more modern premise but still lost the concession. That is now known as Bolton Motorcycles, still run by the same family.

You're good at lane splitting. I do it here in Los Angeles and I do get a weird sense of calmness when I do it...but I don't know why? One time I smacked a guys side view mirror in Santa Monica when I was on Pacific Coast Highway. I pulled over at the gas station just ahead and waited for him in plain sight but he never stopped! I'd say your reaction to the white van was exactly the right one i.e. stay calm and move on. I've watched a few of those road-rage type compilation vids and they're filled with folk that need to take a chill pill and, in many cases, assess their own driving/riding skills! As for the trolls, although it's easy to say, ignore the haters and keep on doing what you're doing :)

I had my middle finger tip crushed between two rocks (clearing stream bed for concrete form). Clip'd 'n sewed ... will hurt like Hades for two weeks after the shot wears off (didn't take any other medications). Hope Mike's doing good. If writing hand, takes some getting used to holding pencils 'n pens. Nice scoot to work Kate!

That Jeep that you passed is fairly common here in the US. The cons are they are heavy, poor gas mileage, not as much interior room as you might think. But, that said, the young people love em. Many owners customize them with all kinds of add-ons. They are built by Chrysler with the Jeep badge, but they have little in common with the original Jeep brand. Love watching and listening to you ride, sorry to hear about Mike's finger. I guess it's an expensive lesson to keep your fingers out from around the bottom of the mower. Love the scooter btw, I ride a Honda Shadow 750 and would love to downsize into a Suzuki Burgman 400 if I had the chance. Great video, ride safe young lass!

Nice bike Kate. I don't know how long you have been riding, but if you want a bit of advice from an old hand (10 years then a 10 year break followed by another 23 years) slow it down when filtering. If anything happens such as a car changing lanes without indicating or a door suddenly opening on a stationary car you have more time to react. A good rule of thumb is no more than 5mph faster than the other traffic.

I have some vented summer gloves and they were awesome.... Until I swapped bikes and got a GS with handguards 🤣🤣🤣 I feel like if anything stupid is going to happen it usually happens to me 😳😳🤣 Poor Mike, why did he have his hand under it? That's usually where the grass supposed to be 🤣 My friends brother (yea yea that old one 🤣) was mowing his lawn and was trying to do it really fast and hit the washing line pole and the mower did an endo and he put his foot in it. This is why you don't wear flipflops while mowing or riding a motorbike 😳😳😳 he lost 3 toes 🤮🤮🤮 Relaxing in your garden is really dangerous 😜👍👍

I am dyslexic and the name could be problematic. When the van moved across your path, you could have:- Blasted the horn, shouted abuse, ranted at the driver, or even, as seems popular on KZbin, punched the mirror!! INSTANT KZbin GOLD!! .......and for what? The driver, probably didn't expect you to be there, and therefore, probably didn't look properly. We all know this happens all the time, getting angry doesn't fix anything, it usually makes the rider look bad.........or stupid!! Nicely handled Kate, same as the way you handled, what you perceived to be, an attempted theft. Keep doing you! As you say 🙂👍

Me too- though kicking left at Glasgow for Arran and the mull of kintyre- on my trusty Vespa 300! Weather forecast is good too! Kate- you have lots of opportunities if you DONT get dragged under a HGV to save a few seconds, but precious few if you do, so good judgment there!

@@UsernameKate ah well I’ve just sold 3 bikes a street triple 675 RX , Royal Enfield Continental 650 GT, Enfield Bullet 500 Trials I’m in the process of getting the final edition Suzuki GSX S750 going to have trade in my amazing husqvarna 401 svartpillion for it.10 days ago I bought the new Royal Enfield meteor stellar 350 plus I have had a Royal Enfield Continental 535 GT for 5 years that’s the longest I’ve ever owned a bike so that’s not really answering your question so I suppose at this moment in time it has to be the 535GT it always gets lots of attention at bike nights or cafes 😊

Lane splitting sucks. I drive everything with wheels regularly except HGV's although I have the drivers license for it. It's all fun and games from the bikers view, but every HGV or bus driver will tell You how dangerous this is. The dead spots on these vehicles can kill bikers. If You sneak up from behind and stop beside a big truck, because of the truck drivers big seat height, there is a good chance, he will not see You. Sitting upright on a big adventure bike helps, but on a small scooter or a bicycle, that's the nightmare for every driver of a big vehicle to kill someone simply by changing the lane or by turning left or right. Everybody should have some lessons in driving an HGV, just to get a feeling for the dimensions and problems in traffic.
