No trolls, no bots, no weirdos trying to engagement farm/bait because they think it's going to generate a couple dollars. Just pure positivity and people actually having meaningful discussions without getting out of line.

@@FilmTrippyX If you call punishing bigotry and other bad behavior with a ban "censorship", then, yeah, censorship is necessary to curate any sort of community online, and that's how it's always been since fucking Usenet. People aren't interested in treating online communities like a fucking warzone. They want to chill and find people and things that interest them. Surprisingly, that means they don't want to deal with bigots and trolls, and, if given a choice, they *will leave* places where they have to do that for places where they don't. I'm sorry that this might upset you, but it seems like as far as social media or even just communities in general go, people are both more civil in echo chambers than Walmart, and people will choose the environment where they feel safer being civil.

Been on bluesky for a few weeks now, I still have the twitter app on my phone but I hardly check it anymore, may end up deleting it. I actually don't mind the people who come on there with opposite views because the conversations on issues are more friendlier. Even if maga people jump on, i don't mind that too because the democratic platform doesn't prioritise any single view, it's not owned by a billionaire and the block button works...

I’m a black queer leftist. I made a bluesky account a year ago when it was still invite only. It has improved over the months. It’s a space for white liberals/leftist who feel like they’ve suffered too much emotionally from typing nice words about POCs a few times and now believe they can build an Ann Rand style utopia on the internet. That’s a huge issue I have with the mindsets of so called leftist European Americans. They don’t comprehend that every day for black people is like Elons X. We don’t just run away from society, we have to grab the bull by the horns. Allies Schmallies, all would turn against us at the slightest sign of conflict. That being said, X does stink but just statically BlueSky, being a literal copycat of Twitter, will never be that big.
