Was looking at the last round from Alex's point of view and was thinking the exact same thing as him at the end. First he blocks the step kick in the corner and gets TT'd for standing there. So next time he sees a step kick he's instantly holding up. Strider doesn't dash so he's just awkwardly jumping in place, I can imagine him thinking damn I'm in his head.

People forget that Abel has zero safe pressure, characters like Cammy, Viper, Ibuki etc get to maintain their pressure even if you guess correctly but against Abel you can punish him big time. Hence why people used to say he has the "fairest" vortex game.

I know Strider is awesome but the more I see him use that step kick, the more I think to myself.. It's just guessing, isn't it? You are playing lottery against Abel. That's how it feels when I watch these games.

Skeptic Gamer A big part of playing against Abel is staying out of step kick range. By allowing him to step kick you, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. I've realised this from whenever I've got random select Abel against good players. I always get frustrated when they don't let me just run the mixup game.

massi4h I honestly think that if you have good nerves and have good spacing you can absolutely get into that range.

Skeptic Gamer The thing is with abel, he has to play that game, and if he reads the situation it usually means he is eating a full punish. Compare that to other characters in the game that have mixups that are relatively safe. All the options after a blocked step kick have something that can beat it. If the abel guesses rite, he gets another knockdown situation. If he's wrong hes taking a full punish.

David Tran Which makes it gambling. You could just throw your brain away after that and just do whatever you can do in that situation. You got a 50% chance of succeeding roughly.

Skeptic Gamer thats the reward abel gets for getting in to step kick range, you just have to not let that happen. Abel is a vortex character at heart and that vortex has to srart from somewhere. Keep him out.
