On January 29, 2025, our U.S. Figure Skating family suffered an unimaginable loss when several members of our community-athletes, coaches, and family members-perished aboard American Airlines Flight 5342, which tragically collided with a helicopter in Washington, D.C. These individuals were returning home from the National Development Camp in Wichita, Kansas, a place where young skaters take their next steps toward their dreams. We are devastated by this loss and are holding the victims’ loved ones closely in our hearts. In response, we have established the U.S. Figure Skating Family Support Fund to provide financial assistance to those U.S. Figure Skating families directly impacted by the tragedy. Truly heartbreaking. The skaters were all so good and happy, a lovely group of parents, teachers and children bringing us beautiful skating and much joy, now we mourn them all. As a former mom of a skating young girl many years ago my heart breaks.

This came up on my YT feed after watching videos of Torvill and Dean. What exceptional grace and beauty from two exceptional young skaters. Didn’t realize until looking at the comments that we lost these two wonderful people along with their mothers and others on the American Airlines plane. Was such a kick to the gut and I sat in tears watching them. May they rest with God and skating beautifully before Him.

I just want to say what an absolutely amazing routine, the absolute grace and timing they show is so impressive along with their stamina to do a three minute routine! The fact that Sean even did lifts was jaw dropping considering their age! A routine I hope they and everyone they knew was proud of
