He isn't, just 1 set against Abel the original vortex character, 50/50's all day everyday. Ofcourse Strider himself made it happen though and not just the character, he baited a lot of shit, did well during neutral, overall smart play. But yeah, anyone in top 16 isn't free, regardless of how the match went.

aer0LH When you are one of the top players in the world and won capcom cup, its no surprise you get a target on your back when you go to international tourneys. Especially when this year, big money is on the line. Top players have a fall off but usually sustain themselves and get back to a top 8 spot. I mean look at Daigo too. People thought he was washed up outside of FT5's. Then he runs a train on NCR like its all business. Took everybodys' money including his appearance fee and the Cap Cup invite.
