Both players played very well. Xian took the smarter route and counterpicked to give him the upperhand and Daigo stuck to what he does best and just grinded through with his Evil Ryu. Xian hasn't been matching up too well against Daigo, so I think his counterpick was a good move. And even though Daigo is no way the underdog. Kudos to him for sticking with his character and still gave Xian a run for his money.

Just like Infiltration was able to beat Fuudo by counterpicking with Elena, Xian's pick of Sim proved to be the right move. Perhaps more of these Capcom Cup competitors should consider learning a backup main just in case they got counterpicked.

Well Daigo said in an interview that he wont counterpick just for a win. He likes to stick to his character win or lose. (This was the interview post evo2014)

Daigo is so good I think he could win with evil ryu but he should have went with a few dps to punish the limb spam. I mean daigo has won entire rounds with just dp but didnt even try this whole set.

Daigo has beaten dhalisms before even though its a hard fight. He could have picked yun and probably won but sticking with e ryu I think he should have gambled a few more times with some random dps to get in and let him know you cant mindlessly spam limbs I didnt see any umeshryus and in past sim matches he has had some big time dps to change momentum and get in

***** You guys are pathetic. Really, there is a roster of characters. Dhalsim is in no way an OP character, he is a rubbish character in most match ups. On the contrary, a player using Evil Ryu is generally capable of fighting any other character with range and strong in-close fighting. You need to look at it another way, how does someone using Evil Ryu improve their game so they can beat an otherwise useless Dhalsim.

No one is saying Dhalsim is OP. We are not talking about most match ups, but this match up in particular. In this match up the odds are heavily stacked in dhalsims favour and that's the only reason Xian counter picked. Xian is one of the best players in the world so I was bit suprised
