I really enjoyed this US Open. The Country Club played tough, but fair. The quality of play was top-notch. An impressive 4 amateurs made the cut. Fitzpatrick is a deserving winner who had been playing really well leading up to the US Open and finally broke through. Zalatoris played great, too. All in all, a great week for golf.

I hit my dad's 30 year old bladed Wilson irons way better than my modern Taylormade M2 irons. The talk about forgiveness seems like marketing bs to me, and the older irons feels much better to hit. I do hit it farther with the modern irons, but that is pretty irrelevant for me anyway.

He’s won 7 times on the DP world tour (European tour) including the tour championship twice. He’s been in the top fifty in the world for 7 years but didn’t join the pga tour until 2020. Sometimes people forget that the pga tour isn’t the only golf tour in the world.

A rare US Open with no controversy and players ripping them. The question is, was Brookline 'botch proof' or did the USGA finally learn their lesson? To me, this is the sweet spot they should be shooting for; -3 to -6, in that range. Tough course, perfectly set up, plenty of birdies to go with the bogey's+. But I wonder if it was a typical hot Open, would it have been maintained?

The USGA have a ball-park figure of level par to win US Opens. But the weather (and the consequent course conditions) is something they can’t control. Will they get the Shinnecock Hills set-up right next time after the balls-ups of the last two there? To me, that course is impossible to set up for a US Open - surprised it’s not been dropped off the rota.
