I agree, he is good at singing live as compared to other contemporary singers. But, this song is a very difficult one and it's really hard to sing it live in the way it was recorded in the studio. After listening to this live performance by Usher, I would say, I would have been impressed by him if he did justice with his own song..

Ali Mohsin i agree. it may be a song that he needs to do earlier in his set or after an intermission. His vocals need to be fresh. This is one of my fav Usher songs and it's disappointing that he didn't do that well here. I wish there were more live videos of him singing this but we're left with this mediocre performance. I think that Usher sometimes has a hard time with recording vocal melodies that is too challenging for him to execute consistently in live performance. Idk how many takes this guy needs in studio but guaranteed while he's laying vicals down in studio he hasn't been dancing and trying to project his voice over a screaming audience or a live band.

Dude!! Truer words have never been spoken! It's been years and i'm still salty that there's no other live footage of this song. It deserved so much more! Some have said that it's too similar to There Goes My Baby, but imho this song is superior. Too much finesse and wordplay in this song.
